Jorge Sampaoli

Postby tflags » Fri Dec 25, 2015 11:20 pm

Sampaoli, one of this year's three top candidates for FIFA's Best Coach award, has been named a few times as a possible replacement for a number of ailing clubs including Chelsea and Real Madrid.

In a recent interview with Spanish second best selling Madrid newspaper AS, Sampaoli had this to say about the world we live in, P## G########## (I am being sensitive on the members whose blood level rises uncontrollably every time you mention the infidel's name) and Bayern Munich:

- For ya, what is the best team in the world? Which one do you sit down and watch on TV?

Given a choice, Barcelona is probably one of the teams I like to watch the most. But for me, best team in the world is Bayern Munich because the coach seeks various tactic variations that allow us to perceive the quality of the players and which solve problems that arises during a game. All of this naturally. (Oh my God he thinks Guardiola is good. The bastard!) Far from having very good players with great individual talent, it has become a collective powerhouse that sink rivals even further in their goal. They are subjected all the time, not allowed to breathe. Pep has a value in the possession in each game, I like to watch that. There are other teams as well, like Real Madrid or Barcelona, which have players so different that solve on their own a game. I also watch games from years past because this is where I find enjoyment, not tension.

- What did you learn (appreciate) from your meeting with Guardiola in Munich?

I found a trainer that has the capacity to handle different methods like Pep in Barcelona before and now in Bayern, and to make them work as a team. I was interested to know how he modified structures in the positional game so that the general game play is not downgraded. It was a very interesting talk. Guardiola gives certain parameters so that one player empowers another continuously. Today there are players much more absolute, which empower others. This is why I was particularly interested in talking to him. He was very generous with me.

Guardiola is also nominated for the FIFA best coach award.

What I don't understand is how the BayernForum twitter links to this post thinking "FC Bayern after Jorge Sampaoli".

Yes, this shouldn't have been posted in the transfers forum.

Because it still makes more sense than the transfer thread. But actually, moving to General Bayern discussion

Funny, a lot of discussions about placement and none about content. You are all welcome to create discussions topics btw, preferably some worth discussing.

There's nothing to add to what Sampaoli and Thierry and the rest of football haven't already said. Guardiola's work is appreciated by the club and the fans. Now he has to take us deep in Europe one last time and that's all there is to it.

Don't know if you have been following the news so far but apparently Sampaoli is wanted over in London. So much so that he has publicly announced his desire to quit coaching Chile. The freshly appointed FA president Salah just met and apparently everything is going legal: Sampaoli has a 6M release clause which the FA reduced already and offered payment terms.

Whatever the case, it doesn't seem like Chelsea is the interested party. I mean, six million for them in installments shouldn't be that much of a headache.

... aaaand he's free to go. Renounced his bonuses with Chile (for nicking the Copa América) and apparently will pay only around $2MM to get his contract nullified. Sampaoli, the world's 2015 third best coach, is now a free agent.
