"International" designation

Postby eem2x » Tue Dec 13, 2011 1:09 am

Hello all,
I have a simple question. What does it mean when a player is an "international"? I thought it meant that the player was playing for a team in a country that is not his nation of origin. For example, Frank Ribery is a "French International". However, I've heard many commentators refer to German players as "International" when they play for German clubs. For example, I just heard the commentator refer to Mario Gomez as a "German International".

Thanks in advance!

Why did you make a new topic just for a question which has a simple answer? :?
I think you should make Google and Wikipedia your best friends. :D

Welcome back :)

Regarding "international players", I absolutely hate it when reporters/commentators refer to players who have had just one random cap with the NT as internationals :x
