You fool! Who leaves Petersen out of an ultimate Bayern XI????!

dont be so harsch man it is a tough decision Gerd or Petersen

Petersen is clearly better! It's like comparing the god Rensing to that "Kahn" guy.

Thought I would make my own.
I think 4231 is my fav formation so i will use that one.

----------------------Maier---------------------
-Lahm-Augenthaler-Beckenbauer-Breitner-
-----------Matthaus------Effenberg----------
--Robben------------Scholl-----------Ribery--
-----------------------Elber--------------------

Bench:
Kahn
Lizarazu (because Brehme wasn't at Bayern for long)
Schwarzenbeck
Schweinsteiger
Ze Roberto
Gerd Muller
Rummenigge

Making this list I realized what great LBs we've had in the past, Breitner, Brehme, Lizarau...
It's nice to see that besides the three major creative players up front all the players are German :).

Got a problem with that Mr. Bayern expert? Don't laugh and make fun of other people's opinion, especially you.
I picked Elber above Gerd because Elber was far more a linkup player as well as creative, fast and complete. Gerd was just known for his accelerations and striker insticts, but wouldn't work well with Robbery and isn't the beast kind of player that Gomez is to use strength and beat two defenders when poaching.

Look at the comment properly oh great critic
The post he made was intentionally for fun so i replied casually. You could see that with the likes of Rafinha in the squad, Van Buyten in the bench, etc. Not that i dont respect others' opinion.

What about Basler and/or Deisler instead of Robben?

I think Basler and Deisler have achieved far too little.
Basler was lazy and had terrible attitude. Okay, Robben isn't the sweetest boy either but if I remeber correctly Basler even smoked and drink? Just that alone makes him unworthy of the greatest Bayern squad ever imo.

I supose Deisler could have been in there. Ofcourse I didn't brainstorm all the players and did it a bit from the top of my head and missed him. But he never achieved a thing for us. He was with us in a dark period and was constantly injured and suffered despression, which is a sign of mental weakness ----> trouble performing under pressure (big matches).

Appu clearly you're covering yourself up now. Read the posts back there was no joking about the post then yet. But I don't expect anything from you anyways.

I could be wrong about, this but I remember reading somewhere that KHR used to drink a glass of brandy before big matches to calm his nerves. :P

Just some trivia :)

You can toss one back every now and then, I don't think it's wrong. Smoking, however, is far more harmful and addictive. So no problem with a whiskey tossed back every now and then and before (big) matches, just not too much, because that will affect you vision and judgement, as well as slowing your reaction time and your speed, and lose you balance (don't drink too much kids, or you'll become like Petersen!) but that's only extreme drunkness, not a glass or 2 ;)

Very very valid points except for the strength point. Gomez would bounce off Gerd Muller like a ragdoll. He was built like a weightlifter.

What do you guys think of Lahm vs Lizarazu and Sagnol?

I mean I find it hard to believe we could have had a fullback better than Lahm, but I only remember Sagnol a little and Lizarazu is only a name I remember from old FIFA games. :P

Well... I've seen enough of the 3 of them....
IMO they are/were all great fullbacks... It's hard to choose between them, but I'll select Lizarazu if I'm forced to....
IMO we had the best LB in the world in Lizarazu those years... even though other great LB names were playing at the time too (Maldini, Carlos, ....)

He was a great in defense and at the same time a superb in attacks... I'm secretly hopeful that we can have that superb experience once again with Alaba in the next few years...

Lahm's advantage towards Lizarazu, IMO, is his versatility... He can play both RB and LB at a very high level...
