I don't quite get the "avoid Atletico" sentiment. Sure, I wouldn't want them, but they played a Barcelona in their worst form of the season. They were always going to need some luck to take out the Catalans, and they got it.

But not even Barca has the quick outside players that Bayern has. Coman/Costa (not forgetting Robbery) are the players you need to break Atletico down, just like they did with Juventus.

I think form more than class is what usually decides the CL, and right now Atletico seem to be in quite a form. They are very tough to play against and can really pack a good defense against possession teams. They know how to handle speed, look at their record against Real. It was Barca's front three that caused them some problems recently though the games were much closer than the 1-7 record in the last two years suggests.

To me the list of favourites right now are:

1. Atletico
2. Bayern
3. Real, but there really is little to choose between them and us. Both brilliant in our best day but also very inconsistent lately.
4. City, by the far the worst team though shades of 2012 Chelsea do worry me.

Without Barcelona, the road has been open more. All the rest of the teams will park the bus and will try to counter us, so in order to beat them, we need as I always said, facing the mark. Do not support to much with bayern defenders because this bring the high line.

Tough to have Robben back, but he will be necessary for our sucess in semis.

In order to stop the counters, Boa is arguably even more important.

I don't get why everyone seem to fear that City would do a Chelsea '12. Apart from being oily English (and not so good), both teams don't have much in common.

City is an offensive team which has deservedly won their matches up to now (although they had easy matchups).

Chelsea was very defensive and utter crap all along and deserved to go out at every damn round of the knockout stage.

I don't think City's style of play would allow them to replicate this disgrace for football.

The only thing I'd fear about them is their extra motivation against Pep but I doubt it would be enough to bring them to Bayern's level anyway.

Guys there's a bit of overlap between this and the CL thread. Let's keep this thread tactics based
