Bayern Munich's UCL hopes

Postby Firefox1234 » Thu Nov 26, 2015 9:33 am

Many Bayern fans complain about our suspect defense but after watching other UCL matches so many other teams have just as big of issues in the same categories. I don't see any side that Bayern should feel that nervous playing against if the majority of the squad stays fit and stays intact for the next couple of years.
Welcome to the Allianz Arena....

In the last 17 years - we won it 2 times and we were beaten 9 times by the winning side of the tournament.
1 year we failed to qualify, 1 year failed to make out the group stage(in which AC Milan was in, eventual winners). The other 4 times beaten by giants like RM, AC Milan, Chelsea and Inter. :P

He introduced me to German football or let's say football because I wasn't that interested in it before '96(yep, glory hunter) and I hoped to see him play for Bayern someday which never happened. Serie A was the only league streamed on TV and he was one of the few Germans I could follow on a regular basis, that much that he became an obsession(something like ballackfcb with Ballack). I actually liked AC Milan when him, Ziege and Lehmann(short spell) were playing there... He was a beast in that league alongside Batistuta, it was a great rivalry of strikers and there was also Ronaldo.
He was a late bloomer... despite being a sportsman he's attended some studies and was always tipped to take a managerial role in some club somewhere and now he's the business manager of the German NT.
Weah and Bierhoff were a deadly duo with Boban working behind them... He came in a package at the time from Udinese with Zaccheroni and Helveg, in Udine he was the top goalscorer with 28 goals. :P

JANCKER wrote:You should never settle for anything less than the 1st place, that's the mentality that has to govern here or else be Liverpool or Arsenal, crying about different stuff.
There are years you won't make it but you must never give signs of satiability and stupid excuses like "we won it last year so it doesn't matter if we don't win it this year" shouldn't exist.
In other words if you don't want to be Liverpool/Arsenal and that sort of a team, your goal should be not anything less than the 1st place in every competition and it must be felt in the air that you won't be settling for anything less than that or else players will smell it and settle for less.
The winning mentality has a lot to do with success in the CL, Inter after winning 5 consecutive domestic titles won the CL, Juve after dominating that league almost made it in the CL... even if they probably weren't the better sides, they still made it with that mentality that they gained through years.
Wanting it by every cost makes a difference even if you're not good enough, e.g. Chelsea, players dying on the pitch, strikers playing LB and everything it takes just to win it, that's it...
Every year should be taken in consideration separately, past is in the past, this year we're going for the CL no matter what... that attitude and then what comes.

And so is hoping for something that is clearly illogical.

EDIT: In all respect to my poetic abilities, the previous version rhymed fine; but was too insulting.

Yeah, that was way past the mark. My fault. I'll correct it.

We're definitely cofavorites with Barça, but it's not wise to underestimate Madrid, tittles are not won in the Hinrunde. All will depend on what kind of form can each team muster by April-May.

In all honesty if these wars and tensions between the world don't get fixed we could see a seize of football if wars breakout....I hope to avoid that more than anything
