Lol, this.

Thiago is the best regista in our squad right now. Great vision, great technique, great passing, good long ball, able to switch play, good defensive workrate, and was our midfield's best tackler last season.

Don't forget Seba Rudy

Don't worry, Ancelotti will forget him for you.
He doesn't have the quality to be a starter for us.
Not sure how you've gotten to like him that much.

I am not 100% convinced but I don't think that he should be overlooked or discredited. What I saw from him during last season and the Conf Cup made me think that he might surprise many.

What did you see from him in the confed cup?
He was bang average. When we were dominating he made some nice passes. When we were pushed into defense he was invisibible.
He'll play a nice Sebastian Rode here.

And Vidal is?

Vidal doesn't take crazy risk 5 times a game.

Don't cry when Thiago loses crucial balls.

He does higher on the pitch.. Deeper would be catastrophic.

He is not made to be regista. Even Pep the crazy stop quickly to use him there.
For good football : Neuer - Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Alaba - Vidal (Tolisso), Thiago (Rudy) - Robben, Müller (James), James (Ribéry) - Lewandowski

For boring football : 4-3-3

Just because Thiago is playing in the middle doesn't mean he's a "regista".
He's way more suited for the middle role than Vidal, who should finally benefit from not having to run for 2 players and shine in his box-to-box role.

Thiago can very much play the register role similar to how Pirlo played it, with the right midfield partners he would excel since as previously stated he has the vision and passing range to excel their...

If we stick to the 4.2.3.1
The duo couples will be made up by either Tolisso with Thiago or Vidal with Rudy

Vidal and Thiago. It's our best 2 MF possible.

Yes I really don't understand the pushback. The general consensus I've heard of from nearly everyone - fans and players/pundits alike - is that Thiago (while he played very well in an advanced role) is better further back on the pitch.

Since this is the tactics thread. I think this is the best place to discuss this.

Bayern need three PK takers who will almost always score from the spot. I know sometimes even the best can miss but we need three guys who are likely to score 9.99/10 times.

My suggestions would be -
1. Lewandowski
2. James
3. Alaba/Kimmich

Müller, Vidal and Robben have all missed crucial penalties in the past. I don't know about the prowess of the rest from the spot.

Lewandowski seems to be the default PK taker so if keep it at that, he hasn't struck out yet so I'd keep things the same. James seems to have a lot of experience there too so I won't mind him being the deputy...

Just way better I guess?

Alaba has proven to regularly miss and so did Müller.
Vidal and Robben are very good PK takers, one miss in the last 5 years doesn't change that.

1. Lewandowski
2. Vidal
3. Robben
4. James

Probably.
