I'm praying that Tasci/Kimmich can do a solid enough job and Benatia can stay fit enough to keep Alaba away from playing CB. When Alaba is at his best at LB he takes our game to another level, but his attacking qualities are lost when he's at CB.

But we have to rotate, so Bernat getting in form will be very important too.

I forgot about Tasci. We need him to step his game up even more now. I wonder how good he'll be. #-o

My expectations are rather low, to be honest... But as others have said, the rest of the team needs to compensate.
If Lewy keeps scoring and our wingers find form we still can have high hopes for this season. :coffee:

Vidal played as a CB many times in Juve also.

We might we panicking with all the injuries but we have a very deep squad and Vidal/Benatia and Tasci are not ideal but it should be solid. We reached the final with Demichelis/Van Buyten and a 20y Badstuber as LB, with a much weaker squad for the rest.

We should cope now, or else we can safely say Van Gaal overachieved or Pep underachieved.

Get past Juve which will be hard enough and we already have a nicer picture.
Actually, get past the first leg undamaged and we'll be fine.

Van Gaal overachieved. Having a team with Altintop and Pranjic come to within one game of a treble is the definition of overachievement.

We had a pretty strong XI. Pranjic and Altintop were not in it.

Olic up front supported by Ribery, Muller and Robben. Schweinsteiger with Van Bommel as holding midfielders. Only the defense sucked big time.

Similar situation to now, except we're much better now.

Look, our defense sucked worse than it does right now, so why panic? :coffee:

Within one wrong referee decision too. I still think we would have won the treble if that blatant Maicon handball(s) were punished by the referee.

Since we're talking about ref wrong decisions, if Klose's goal against Fiorentina was flagged offside... what would've happened then? Sorry for ruining it... shit happens.

Or if Dane would've been red carded against BVB :coffee:

Then the ref for the second leg wouldn't have awarded the Fiorentina offside goal in the second leg. We had so many wrong referee decisions against us that season it's rather unfortunate that Bayern fans can only remember the single one in our favour.

Off the top of my head I remember Camoranesi hacking Ribery from behind 3 times and the referee whistling the end of the match with Olic through 1 on 1 against Buffon (something I never ever saw and hope I won't see again for the love of the sport). Also that defender for the French club saving the ball with the arm on the line, Suarez vs Ghana style. Also a penalty against for a correct tackle by Butt. Last but not least, Ribery never deserved to miss that final.

Yeah, I agree, Ribery should've been able to play the final... And I think that it would have had a different outcome but we're Bayern and such things happen to us.

Altintop was. In the game that would have handed us the treble.

Listen, I get that we had a good first choice front six in van Gaal's time, but betting on the one and the same formation for a season is bollocks.
