This is proof that the system works. Like I said, tiki taka focused on passing not around the box but into it. This is the kind of football we need to play in possession, and thus is proof we can do it.

What we need to work on is when we do not have possession: dead ball situations and counters, both cases defensively and offensively.

Exactly my thoughts. And I'm really glad that today's game reaffirmed my believe that Müller and Götze's partnership is the a solid future for Bayern. Granted, Hamburg is a relegation-threatened team, but still... the magic seems to be there.

It was just great to see a bleeding team rise as we did today. Granted, it was only HSV, and our playing wasn't at the highest level throughout the game. But i'm confident that we can get past this recent hurdle and come out even stronger.

MY FIRST TEAM 14/15:

We would only splash on David Luiz (very good in defending set pieces).

We have a terrific squad. If Contento leaves we should promote a youngster, 'cause buying Laporte for 30 M is insane.

First thing, I would like to get back to the 4-1-4-1. If Pep is to stick to his philosophy (and he has the right to do so) then having two deep-lying midfielders wouldn't help much with opening up tight spaces in the opposition half. I think we might see this next year as a main formation:

For the next year we need: 2 CB or 1CB +1CB/LF, 1LF
Farewell to: Contento, DvB, Shaquiri and Rafinha (under contract until 2017?)

I cant get rid of the feeling that a lot of things regarding tactics changed once Thiago got injured.

We were quite good in possession while he was there with kroos and Lahm in the middle. Once he got injured and Schweini came back...we were lost when it comes to penetrating defensive lines and keeping possession to frustrate opponents.

We were much more unpredictable and we didnt just pass the ball back to our defenders and than to Neuer. We somehow kept the ball in midfield and pushed right up.
Lahm and Thiago were moving around and looking for the ball while Kroos was distributing it from one side to another when midfield got overcrowded. that midfield trio worked perfectly. Just look at that City match. and some other matches when it comes to penetrating those deep defensive lines.

Stick Robben into the striker slot.

Hey, it could work!

^actually you're onto something there -- Robben could excel in the striker slot. Even a false 9. That would allow Müller to play the wing more, and Robben just focuses on getting into the opponents box, maybe using his diving quality  , but I can easily see him there.

Robben needs to go sideways to dribble past defenders. He's not much of a direct/close dribbler to play in the center. He played a bit as the false 9 during the Hamburg game and it was a normal showing. Muller and Gotze are better there as far as I saw of it.

Like the time the ball landed on his right peg on the small box and he took two days to control/shoot it. Hell, he's shooting so weak now I am even afraid of his left one. :P

Hey, you don't need him to bet defenders, just run from deep with his pace and make contact with the ball in hopes that it will ricochet in the goal. #tacticsgenius

Pep's dream, run into the goal with the ball.

I just quoted the same article in another post but whatevs; I found this interesting:

Honigstein wrote:The laws of gravity, as well as those of Champions League football (there has been no successful defence of the title) suggested that the most likely way from there was down. Paradoxically, Guadiola’s job will be easier in 2014/15. “The rebuilding in Munich begins now,” Süddeutsche wrote, “it’s what they brought him in for in the first place”.

So Lord Vader is tasked with rebuilding the Death Star. Nice. I say let's crash the Rebellion once and for all.
