Euro 2016 ends July 10th, Copa America 2016 ends June 26th, so these games are scheduled over a month later for most players competing with their national teams.

For the last 10+ years each summer all top European Teams except Bayern toured the USA. Bayern focused heavily in Asia that if you look at it is a longer travel and has a smaller economic impact. I do not see the downside of it.

I support the tour in USA instead of Asia for the reason you said: Economic impact, but I am talking with experience. It is not the first time coaches used preaseason programs for blame a bad beginning of a season.

Basing only in the sporting aspects, there exist many variables for have an irregular preaseason.

A new coach, not enough time of recovery for most players, because most players will have only 3 weeks or maybe less, instead of a month that is the normal time of vacation, as also travelling to 3 different cities in USA, attending commercial meetings, this will be another busy preseason with less time of preparation.

There are others preaseasons, specially the ones that Euro and World cup are not played, for players get enough time of vacation and later take a busy preaseason.
Super-Bayern! Super-Bayern! Hey! Hey!

It's become almost mandatory for Bayern to play AC Milan and a Spanish club in preseason. Last year if I recall correctly we had inter, Milan and valencia. This year, valencia will be replaced by real Madrid

Actually just checked. We had played this season against Real Madrid as well, so we played against all three already.

When was that? Don't remember it at all. Wasn't it Inter, Valencia and Guangzhou?

Can't say I mind. My best friend supports AC Milan and given their disastrous state at the moment, we've never seen our teams play against each other since we got to know each other except for these friendlies. Them being summer friendlies also lets us watch them in a good-natured atmosphere.

He also supports Brazil, so we did get to see one competitive match. :P

Apparently there's a friendly between Bayern and Manchester City on July 20th at the Allianz. It should be Ancelotti's second game at the helm and Guardiola's first at City. No sweat, his next stop is Beijing, five days later, vs . . . United. 8)

There's no information yet on official channels and the match is not listed on http://www.fcbayern.de/de/spiele/spielplan/sonstiges/.

It's basically a 'rumour' by British media. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

The club confirmed the match to Sport1. It is a confirmed encounter.
