It's not racist. The country has exceptional civil rights violations is treats women very poorly. Bayern shouldn't play in a country with such a poor record for democracy.

yellow14, I know you rate Beckenbauer very highly... He said that he never saw a slave in Qatar. :P
Rummenigge said something like, it should be left to politics to deal with it.

Bayern going or not won't change much, just if they want to prove a point...

FCB once came to Malta... but only in favour of our FA's Vote for the 2006 WC bid by Germany. Therefore they won't be back... because we have no oil (they tell us, cause I am 99.9% sure that we do have but because of some hidden powers we will never unearth it... ) :(

It's not like they came to KSA and left back to Munich with a 1000 barrels of oil on board :| It's all about global expansion. KSA has a population of around 30M, many of whom are hardcore football fans. I don't think it was a bad idea landing there for a "day" and expanding their footballing network in the area. That is not to forget the cash VW, the event sponsor, has thrown at them for this "layover".

That's life...

Ramsej you're lucky, Bayern never was in my country. :P Population: 700.000 - no oil
To tell the truth this is a barbaric place with only a few Bayern fans, only if they want to come for me and 3 others(that I never met).

The media backlash in Germany is pretty bad, even in publications that are usually pro-FCB. Maybe they'll think twice before going to Saudi Arabia next time.

Not really, just becoming more global. Like how we've been to China and opened an office in the USA.

Unfortunately the truth is that there's not much that Malta can offer Bayern. Mediterranean conditions maybe but our football facilities are not what a club like Bayern would want. I'm sure they'd rather go to Spain or Southern Italy for that.
Super Bayern! Super Bayern! Hey! Hey!

My friend was able to see Bayern because of their training in Qatar.

People can't expect sports to fix societal problems. Sports is a reflection of what happens in society. It's the opium of the masses to forget the problems of the world. Even if FIFA is suddenly ran by the Pope, they won't be able to fix racism because people only watch football in the weekends, they can curb racist comments but it doesn't mean they're still not thinking racists thoughts. People boycotting Qatar 2022 won't stop or change slavery there. Unless you can live without oil, there's no denying that these little Middle Eastern countries are one of the most influential powers in the world and directly or indirectly affecting every single one of us.

WCs should be played only in Germany... :P
You can't play football in the summer in Qatar, I can understand it for winter breaks.

FAZ, Tagesspiegel, Süddeutsche (the latter aren't exactly known as anti-FCB), just to mention those that immediately come to mind. If you're interested, I can provide the links.

This is quite confusing....I understood that the Prince was angry because they were not allowed in Bayern's post match dinner. Bayern replied with an apology that they only learnt about this after the Saudis had left and that since Bayern were the guests themselves they had no authority on matters of who was allowed to join the dinner.
