Manchester United and Arsenal have spent peanuts compared to Soton ans Swansea. I might have said this before but the Soton management have balls, and the club will go a long way under them. Europa League at the end of 2014-2015 seems quite realistic for them.
Emre CAN do it.

Last year Man U got around 63m after they won the league. This year the 20th place team will get around 64-65m.
So there you have it.
However only West Ham seem to have a very high net spend for a mid table team. Sunderland bought 10 players for 30m pounds and sold Mignolet for 9m pounds and one more big deal. I can't remember.
West Brom, Newcastle haven't spent much. Swansea may be around 15-20m(not net). Norwich 8.5m pounds for Rickie van Wolfswinkel.
Southampton 17m pounds for Osvaldo. These are the only stand out deals. Not much of an effect seeing these teams already make enough money as they have been in PL for a few years. Plus just one move up in the table this year could account for a bigger margin than it would have been in the recent years. So everyone wants to be in TOP 10. That's what they are aiming for. Of course the first aim is to avoid relegation at all costs as this is just the beginning of the new TV deal.

Chelsea were lucky to beat Aston Villa tonight. They aren't any better off than us at the moment.

Chelsea and for some reason most English team Bayern plays are lucky against us. I dont want to have to remind anyone of Bayern's short comings against English teams but im still very wary of Chelsea.

I am too...
However I believe that we are in a similar situation / form.
This morning I read the match report and besides their luck (for a change) there was also controversy. Ivanovic elbowed an opponent however the ref only cautioned him with a yellow. Minutes later the same player scored from a dubious position! Later on Terry handled the ball in the area with no consequences. The report also said that Cech made some superb saves.
Concl. Cech & the Ref saved JM and his bloody lucky Chelsea...

I think they were a bit reluctant to award a penalty because Villa were given 2 penalties in the previous game against Arsenal. Still that is very unfair.

Or it just might be that Aston Villa is playing well. Seen their last few games and they're really fighting hard, they might have lost against Chelsea and Liverpool but it was a hard fought loss.

Mignolet saves Liverpool again. If this continues, Reina might as well move permanently. If Liverpool can convert the chances they create, they can finally fight again for the top. Though watching their passes and plays is entertaining too. Damn that Coutinho kid! =D>

Liverpool have completed more passes in the first half of this game than 17 teams have in a full 90 mins in the PL in 2013/14.
Must be because of the ugly kits.

Yes they are playing well, and they haven't had any easy games. That is why Chelsea needed luck though. :P
