And people watching more him than the game...

Apparently that was during half time. The gate separates the VIP section from the ordinary fans' section and Maldini went next to it to pose with fans.

Yuppie .. our U21 won vs Latvia. We now have 8pts ... a record for levels
well done Boys..
Had not luck betrayed us like in the last game vs Belgium the feat could have been much bigger
by the way from the same group Montenegro won 3-0 over belgium. Therefore former won both games.

Clubs, players must get their act together if Maltese football is to progress
Malta’s 2-0 defeat to Lithuania has darkened the mood surrounding the national team after Andrè Schembri’s scathing criticism in the aftermath of the England qualifier had drawn attention to the perennial failings of Maltese football. But, what are the real problems and challenges facing the Malta FA, the clubs and players? Kevin Azzopardi analyses the situation... [source]

A good analysis but for me Ghedin remains the most important part. Obviously no coach can do miracles with this team and I agree that there need to be other changes, but we really need to call for his resignation now.

The MFA Pres is a big scumbag. He wanted a league made up of 14 teams, why? To gain more votes.

Firstly the league should be made up of 8 teams in the Premier League and another 8 teams in the first div (all on Pro basis) Those teams who do not fill the criteria will be relegated to regional leagues. and Only the overall champ of the regional league will be promoted to div 1.
We have to export young players as much as we can...

The Malta Football Association announced that General Secretary Bjorn Vassallo handed his resignation. This was announced during a meeting of the MFA Bureau which was held on Monday morning.

Bjorn Vassallo, who was appointed MFA Chief Executive Officer in 2010 and was later elected as General Secretary, said that he had accepted an offer by FIFA to work as Director of European Member Associations.

Vassallo played a key role in the several reforms the association went through in recent years, meant to improve the level of the game.

In a statement, the association said that it was of great honour for the MFA and the local game that its former General Secretary will now be serving within the international body. The association wished him success and thanked him for the hard work over the past twenty-one years in the local game while serving at a member club and later in the MFA administration. [source]

Representatives of Premier League clubs yesterday called on the MFA to address their grave concerns over allegations of significant discrepancies between the money spent on construction and renovation projects at local stadia a few years back and the actual cost of these works.
An inquiry by the MFA board of internal auditors found no evidence of wrongdoing but made a series of recommendations to ensure greater financial transparency, suggestions which have led the association to seek the advice of their external financial auditors on the best way to amend the procedures. [source]

Yest we lost 2-0 at home vs Iceland.
All goals were conceded in the sec half.
The first half we played very well but after a very unlucky goal in the 47th min we lost our rythem.

two comedians made this prayer (in Maltese) for our team  TALBA GĦAT-TIM NAZZJONALI

Oh Malta f’kollox nibrillaw!
Fil-futboll biss nixkanaw!
Qisna qatt ma qbadna art!
Jghaddu minn fuqna qisna muturi tal-ħart!
Sakemm inkunu under sixteen!
Inkunu għadna mhux ħazin!
Malli nitilgħu mal-kbar!
Qisna bhala livell insiru agħar!
Meta se jasal dak il-jum?
Qisni għalih veru se ndum…
Fejn inmur il-ground u nigi maħnuq!
Bl-għajjat flok bil-buri maħruq!
San Mourinho idħol għalina…
Tim nazzjonali aħjar agħtina!
Forsi ninqalgħu minn dan il-qiegħ
U lil Pajjiżna nagħmlu gieħ…

Malta falls further in FIFA World rankings, worst place ever in history [source]

Malta fell from 178th place to 182nd place in the comprehensive list comprising 211 countries.

It is the worst placing ever for Malta.

Only Gibraltar, San Marino, Andorra and Liechtenstein have a worse placing than Malta among European countries.

Malta’s best ever placing was the 66th position it held twice in 1994 and 1995. At the time, Malta was also coached by Pietro Ghedin.

I remember him ...
But IMO the best foreigner coach was Dusan Fitzel (SVK) and Hors Heese (Ger)
and the best Maltese coach was without any doubt Pippo Psaila.
My dream is to have Paul Zammit as our NT Coach.

list of all the coaches who coached Malta. check out Pippo's stats... and note that during his reign for every win only two points used to be awarded. [source]

I agree, I think Paul Zammit would do very well.

EDIT: Shame Psaila hadn't stayed longer. Why had he left?
