One of the great events in Malta's quest for independence, and it's related to football. :)

A short English recap: Malta (still a British colony then) played a home game against Yugoslavia in 1945, and before kickoff the band played the Yugoslav anthem and God Save the King. The Maltese supporters protested heavily when the Maltese anthem was not played. Less than 20 years later Malta became independent.

The English FA is to sponsor a new Malta FA Trophy, as it did when the first FA Trophy was handed to the Malta Football Association.
Malta's new FA Trophy is expected to cost some £25,000 [€31,000] and will be manufactured by Thomas Lyte, the firm behind the English FA Cup, tennis' Davis Cup, golf's Ryder Cup and the Webb Ellis trophy handed to the winners of the rugby world cup.
The proposal for a new trophy was discussed last year by MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo and his English counterpart Greg Dyke.
Mr Darmanin Demajo told an MFA Council meeting today that the time has come to replace the current trophy, which was donated to the local governing body in the 1930s.
He said the aim was to preserve the old cup, adding that the new trophy would incorporate a lot of features of the original one. [source]

During a game against Msida St Joseph on Saturday, Toni Bonello, a 37-year-old veteran of 293 games, was joined on the pitch by his 17-year-old son, Damon, a youth player making his first ever appearance for the team.

A father and son duo playing for the same team at once is a rare enough event, but what happened next was almost unheard of: a loose ball from a corner was enough for Toni to grab a goal, while a late penalty from Damon completed the achievement.

It was one of the first times ever that a father and son had scored in the same game anywhere in the world. Rivaldo, the World Cup winner, and his son Rivaldinho managed the feat last summer in the Brazilian second division, but there are no other recorded instances. [source]

Maltese national football player Andre Schembri scored the winning penalty to send his club AC Omonia into the Cypriot Cup final yesterday.
The 0-0 first leg score between Larnaca and Omonia was repeated yesterday at the latter's GSP Stadium, with both teams goalless after 90 minutes.
With 30 minutes of extra time also failing to yield any goals, the semi-final was decided on penalties.
Omonia scored all five of their penalty kicks, with Schembri keeping his cool and rifling a shot past Larnaca keeper Toño Ramírez for the match's decisive kick.
Schembri was mobbed by teammates and other Omonia staff following his decisive kick.
Omonia will now hope to repeat their 2012 success when they face Apollon Limasol in the final, which is scheduled to take place on May 18.
Watch the penalty kicks, including Schembri's scorcher, on Omonia's Facebook page.

I heard (not sure) that we withdrew our Europa League application so we won't qualify even if we win the FA Trophy. #-o

I said luckily cause some seconds later thay played a CD which went by B'Kara Carnival:evil:
God wanted me not to be there in the club house ...
