What's up lately ? Whenever I watch some local fooball news or read the newspapers, all I hear/read is the word suspensions. Did I hear correctly, 4 Birkirkara suspended players. Are the MFA giving out suspensions in batches or what ?

Have you not heard about the scandalous refereeing of Birkirkara - Hibs match!?!! B'Kara were reduced to ten men (which was fine) however we managed to take the lead in the 90th minute... With those 3 pts we were almost champs since we were playing the team behind us with 2pts. However 2 mins in the et the referee who hails from valletta invented a penalty... Then he also sent off another player of ours. The game ended 1-1. The FA doesn't want to have the league decided with 3 games to spare but wants to to take it till the very end or also maybe also by a decider match. Cause in Malta goal diff or direct encounter do not count...

Mendoza and Fenech will be serving a one-match ban each for incurring a red card during the top-of-the-table match against Hibernians at the National Stadium, on Sunday.
Muscat and Pereira collected their fourth yellow card in a tense encounter that ended one-all after a controversial finale during which a stoppage-time Clayton Failla penalty, awarded for a dubious foul on Obinna Obie-fule, cancelled Shola Haruna’s 90th-minute opener for Birkir-kara.

Maltese football = mafia   :(

Even as a fan of neither team that was an utter disgrace. You guys should be "almost" champions at the moment. Hopefully we can help each other out if we beat Hibs this weekend and you guys return the favour by beating Valletta the following week.

The highly controversial decision you are referring too is probably the result of the referee being a Valletta fan. Following their win over Sliema the previous day, a draw in your game was the only way they could keep their title hopes alive, even if it is unrealistic. However they are still in a chance provided they beat both Birkirkara and Hibs and you guys do not win against both Mosta and Tarxien.

Then again, I also think the gap at the top should be 3 points, not 5 or the 2 there actually are. I still believe your win against Sliema was unmerited. :P

This is also unfair. Sliema's Ian Zammit got a 3 match ban (ending his season, except for the last game) for picking up two yellow cards, as opposed to a direct red.

Yellow card accumulation, and in 2 cases red cards. In Malta there are many suspensions due to yellow cards.

Mendoza - professional foul. P.Fenech second booking.
The other two for their fourth yc
Ian Zammit spat at the supporters that is why he got 3 matches and this incident was reported by the referee...
Hopefully your team will take some pts from hibs though I doubt!

Yes this is the reason for his second yellow, he confirmed it himself. But I think it is a bit too much, you can do much worse in football, and it was a second booking not a direct red.

I also doubt we will take any points from Hibs. We have two wins and one loss against them so far this season, but they have a lot of stake while we only have third place left to play for. Probably Sliema will have more support in the waterpolo game than football tomorrow.

Well we were winning 2-0 and conceded 3 times in the last 25 minutes. #-o

I did not watch the game because I had an exam, but I heard that the last goal was another "made up penalty". I hope this is not the case.

I saw it Sliema scored two euro goals and hit the post and the bar(exactly after the 2-2) The penalty wasn't so clear but I cant say much about it.
The Maltese league is the most close in Eur but one of the most corrupted too  I am fed up with it...
