If I recall correctly the reports were from late March / early April.

Will "reportedly"... Quotes from players or people in charge are only reliable sources of information and even those are not always true. :P

He is not extending, I can tell you 8)

And if Illarramendi finally goes to Madrid, I wouldn't be surprised if Xabi Alonso left to another club. Liverpool are said to be interested in him

Pretty good deal for Atletico, if he manages to stay fit that is. Should be a good replacement for Falcao until they find "the next big thing" :D

Atletico will have some trouble to find that next big thing because they have ZERO money :)

BTW they are close to sign our old amigo Martin Demichelis :D

Athlético still won more titles than Mourinho's Real Madrid over the last three seasons.

Every year i get the feeling the media is doing the transfer negotiations for Arsenal rather than the other way around, but in this case looks like Florentino is trying to get as much as he can for Higuain.....

Then on the other hand, where is Higuain supposed to end up if not Arsenal?

Barca? No.
Psg? Not if Cavani really ends up there.
Juventus? No, they signed Tevez and Llorente already, they won't sign another traditional CF.
Milan? Can't afford to bid more than Arsenal.
Napoli? Maybe but I don't really think they will bid more than Arsenal either.
City? The deal would already be through if they were seriously interested.
Chelsea? No.
United? No.

I think Arsenal is right not to overspend on this one. Florentino already gambled too high and Juventus jumped off-board. Now only Arsenal left on the table. I think the transfer will go through.
