It's funny because they are being punished for spending too much money. Then the solution is to spend MOAR money.

It's essentially saying "Lads, you are spending way too much money, give us our cut" . Absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't have expected a ban from European competitions, but a transfer ban would suffice for a first offence. Uefa and Fifa are just one big joke, there is just no point in FFP if these are the kind of sanctions they will impose.

This is why we've been saying for ages that FFP is doomed to fail.

It's not doomed to fail. With them getting those extra millions, it is doomed to continue forever :|

So basically FFP is just a scheme for UEFA to make more money. With more money they'd be able to increase prize money for competitions, which would help increase the difference between the top clubs and the ones below them... oh wait!

Financial Fair Play

Postby Firefox1234 » Tue May 06, 2014 12:58 pm

Manchester City and PSG face heavy sactions of an upwards of €60m and a UCL squad reduction of 21 players, which would have to include homegrown players [source]

http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Paris-sait-a-quoi-s-en-tenir/462690

It's in French but this is the quick summary.

- Sponsorship reduced from €200m to €100m
- 25 registered players reduced to 21 registered players in Champions League [8 of them still have to be developed locally]
- Payroll has been blocked
- €60m fine over 3 years
- €30m deficit limit instead of €45m
- €60m transfer limit

I am still not convinced about the fine. This doesn't make any sense to punish clubs because they spend too much money by making them spend some more.
For clubs like PSG and Man City, it will be no real problem but for clubs who actually lack money, it is disgraceful. Many spanish clubs barely have the money to pay their players' salary and they should still find some more money to pay the UEFA ? that's absurd.

The rest of the sanctions seems to be fair, though

Important is that they stop these kind of clubs from inflating players wages and fees even more. This is bad for football everywhere
