I thought UEFA will also regulate mega sponsorships like these?

Unfortunately there's **** all they can do about it. There is no real "market price" gauge in regards to how much sponsoring a football team is actually worth. After all, "everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it". So judging whether or not companies overpay for sponsorships is near impossible, not to mention that companies are free to pay whatever they want.

They said they would. Let's see if they take the action they promised now. It's a no-brainer that some unfair practice must have occurred here. €700 million is much, much higher than what top teams earn. And PSG aren't such a top club. Yet.

if I understood properly, they have no chance of lifting the ban when it comes to the next four CL/EL? They can only satisfy the requirements by March 31, 2013 to be able to participate, if qualified, in 2017-18 term?

Price and value assumption is not only acceptable but common accountability practice nowadays. Tax Collector Houses around the world regulate transfer pricing and 'price minimums' for companies known to be related as one of the first steps in audits.

If someone thinks you can price A on something worth B, mmm, I would think twice about it.

It's almost the same as buying a house from an aging relative. The authorities are usually very vigilant to it, to ensure that you aren't paying below the market value to avoid paying the relevant amount of taxes for the true value of the house.

The same should be adopted when it comes to these sort of sponsorship deals. But, it'll be almost impossible to regulate.

Ofcourse, but they can still regulate what their member clubs and associations do. If they have regulations and governing by-laws in place which member clubs must adhere to, then it's a way of begining to start tackling th problem.

The issue is that football as a business has grown phenomenally, that the 'old boys' in charge of our football associations and international federations just don't have the skills or capability to ensure proper governance over the member clubs.

The way I understand it:

1) If they fail to qualify for CL/EL in the next 4 years, it will be like they weren't punished at all.
2) If they qualify once in the next 4 years, even if the next time is in 2015, it will not count.
3) If they fail to satisfy requirements by March, it will be the next two times instead.

So if they qualify every year, they will be playing in Europe in 2015/16.

At least this is how I understood it.
