VfL should be happy... At least some improvement from that 5-1

The first half was one of the best football I've ever seen.

Great match

Excellent, dominant first half performance away to last season's runners up (as opposed to Koln at home). Still was always confident we'd do it, Wolfsburg are a shadow of the team they were last season

Javi Martínez is almost a guarantee for a convincing performance.
Costa has the potential to be our next superstar. There is so much more in him than running down the wing and crossing. Brilliant.

We can all mention Müller, Coman and Alaba for the amazing attack. But man, what about that defensive performance by Javi? My, I just forgot how bloody good he is.

Martinez will make the difference in the big games, that's what I expect at least. You can look at Martinez's performance then at Gustavo's, just to tell the difference... and this man is coming from a long injury break.

I think the biggest difference between this game and the Arsenal one is that today it was do or die and our players knew it. Against Arsenal we played more like in the second half today.
I TRUST IN ARJEN ROBBEN

I think an early goal (will we score one in the first 20 EVER?) would be awesome...

I really should write pre-game or halftime predictive stuff more often - I like how it turns out in the end :P :D :D
We went completely rampant on them today... There wasn't much need for Guardiola to trty and influence the game... But it's not like it'S always a bad opponent if we win... Thry were a bit scared maybe, but they wanted to win this... Just look at what they said ahead of the game... We did very well today and, yes, Mr. Guardiola (will you renew already?!) has his fair share in that - he sent out a team that put as much pressure on WOB through wingplay as it did in the second half of that Bundesliga game right from the start - so we were able to save some resources for the upcoming games after the 3-0...

WELL DONE!
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

Alonso was invisible today. I hope to have a fit and in form Vidal for him in the exact team of today (maybe an INFORM Robben for Coman) after the winter break.
Costa really strengthened the center today.

Arsenal played do or die and they won, let's see when both play that same way how it's gonna end, there are no more excuses left.
We know Wolfsburg better than Arsenal, that's another difference... at least we know 2 of their defensive players better that no one else. Every time when Gustavo failed, the team that he has played for(even for us) flooded and I think that he has again been targeted by our scheme.

Alonso had his late tackles, pleaded for his share of yellow... :P

Thiago was sublime as well. He is our midfield maestro.

"We need players like Coman, Franck [Ribery], Arjen [Robben] and Douglas Costa," Guardiola said. "They go into the direct duels. You can either do that on the wing or in the middle. Today, we wanted to attack Dante."

I think the line in front of Dante failed more, Dante had no choice but to let some go through at that point... actually I think Dante did pretty well for all the work he had to do. Wolfsburg were unable to keep the battle further up from the last line of defense, imo that's not on CBs to blame because they were often caught in the wrong foot after fast dispossessing of their midfield players. That's when you know your opponents defense like the back of your hand. Imo the team played better than against Koeln.
