In a way this is will be a very good game to prepare the team and the coach for the next tougher challenge called Real Madrid.

I don’t think Bayern are favorites. If we were playing at the Allianz then maybe it would’ve been 60-40 in our favor but Leverkusen is a tough place to go. I think this could easily go to ET.

^ Dude that is a lot of arrogance right there!

Why were you so skeptical before the Sevilla game then? (and that too just because they are a Spanish team!)

You’re right, MUTU joined the pussy-up contest before Sevilla... but at least he keeps his grit against fecking Leverkusen, man. Shame on you, shame.

Tbf, Leverkusen are the German team which scares me most. They're the ones who show up and make it very hard for us only to concede 7 in Europe 3 days later.

Are you seriously comparing Sevilla and Leverkusen?

https://www.uefa.com/memberassociations ... index.html

Sevilla 6th place
Leverkusen 20th place.

If Leverkusen had actually qualified to play in Europe (which, reminder, they didn't!), would you have given them a chance against Sevilla? I wouldn't have

The last time we lost to Leverkusen when the competition was still at stake (DFB Pokal or Bundesliga not mathematically won) was in October 2012.

I was more confident of beating sevilla than leverkusen but I do have an explanation. Kind of.

Sevilla were the easiest draw we could have got in the CL so I was confident we would beat them. Whereas Leverkusen away was probably the hardest draw we could have got in the Pokal so I wasn't confident. All psychological I guess.

People probably had a few beers while watching... Cause I cannot explain otherwise how they forget we were lucky to:

- take an early lead

- take it to HT

- keep it after HT until the 1-3

It was a smooth ride from that point, agreed... But the result doesn’t do justice to the game... I think 4-5 would’ve been more adequate

And this brings me back to my biggest concern I always stretch but people here never get - despite even Jupp being unable to fix it: defense...

yeah the final score kind of belies the struggles of the first half. agreed with #12... of all the things Jupp has done for Bayern since coming back, defense is still a shaky point and makes me very nervous against a team like RM

I can agree with you on this one #12. Our defence wasn't good, neither vs Leverkusen nor vs Sevilla. They need to up their game for Tuesday. Luckily we don't concede too many goals anyway, but even just one away goal can make the difference (unless we repeat the 6-2).

I also agree that 6 goals were probably more than we deserved and some of the goals were a bit lucky/not spectacular, but I see it in a different way. We seem to be converting more of our chances, even when they're not easy goals. That's a very good thing. The fact that we scored more than we would usually have expected with a similar performance is a good sign.

I was more confident against Seville because they were (on paper) the easiest possible tie for us in the CL QF and we had two legs to handle them (second leg being at home). So I was pretty positive about our chances.

Against Leverkusen it was a one off game and we bottled the DFB SF last year at the Allianz. Leverkusen away was the second most toughest game we could’ve played in the Pokal SF this season (toughest being Schalke at the Veltins arena). So that is what made me feel a bit more apprehensive.
