From the currently known schedule, this is the most important and toughest game.

Rafinha - a striker in the making.

Rafinha can’t carry offensively the right side alone; he will need help from Lahm and Müller.

If bayern lose the possession and park the bus, we could struggle, because Leverkusen in contrast of Dortmund, is a team that likes to have the ball, they aren’t better than Dortmund in pressing our defensive line, but they like possession.

By this reason, I think bayern shall play preferably as the first 45 minutes in Dortmund, with possession and without giving any chance for Leverkusen to counterattack, by this Bayern will control the game.

Badstuber is in contention because he's fit again, but Schweinsteiger is doubtful.

Another game, another injury and another player returning from injury. :coffee:

Not that losing Schweinsteiger is ever a good thing, but if he doesn't play, it should at least give Xabi a bit more space. Hopefully Thiago can get some more minutes as well.

Thoughts on Thiago starting this game? I know he's been out for over a year, but he looked pretty darn good when he came on vs. Dortmund. Or perhaps he'll be used as a sub this game, and start vs. Porto?

After the Dortmund match he said he's nowhere close to playing the full 90 minutes because he was already very exhausted after playing for just 10 minutes!

Thiago needs to be taken care off. If Bayern want to have a shot at CL glory, we will need Thiago and Robbery fit, especially since we won't have Alaba.

He definitely won't start against Leverkusen - and I would expect him to be on the bench against Porto as well.

It's better for Thiago to come in when Neverkusen's swarm is tired later in the second half. Like Rode did the last time who injected energy late in the game.

Expect this to be even more physical than BVB.
