Coffee vase number three or four is going to have one heck of a showdown today.

Back on topic, Italy is not doing too shabby on this year's coefficient ranking.

1 Spain 6.642 & 6/ 7
2 England 6.142 & 6/ 7
3 Germany 6.857 & 6/ 7
4 Italy 6.500 & 6 / 6

Meanwhile after yesterdays wins of Bayer and Borussia, loss and draw for Liverpool and Arsenal plus BVB qualifying to round of 16, German coefficient claimed to 8.142 and England stands at 6.286.
Altogether England stays in front of Germany at this point by 1.4 points.
Exiting race for second place, isn't it.

But we overtake them at the end of the season if the rest of our results this season are identical.
Super Bayern! Super Bayern! Hey! Hey!

Yes, that's true but we have to remember that 0.55 is for today. Down the road to round 16 that gap will widen again a bit because some English teams will qualify to it and get additional 5 points each for it. For now we count 10 points in for BVB and Bayern and nothing for England.
Any way this year is BL year.

I dont understand how this works, City has 2 points but have 7.228 coef this season and Valencia or Man Utd have 1.2+ in coef points yet they havent played in Europe

Italy seems to lose 4th place to Portugal

It's a 5 year track record. Yep, Portugal sneezed past Italy.

If Schalke qualify, and Liverpool fail to do so, it might not matter in the end because two further German teams will get a 5 point bonus similar to the the two English teams that will. Leverkusen is almost sure to do so now, and hopefully Schalke can still pull this off. Hopefully City goes out completely instead of collecting further points in the EL.

Impressive though by the Germans.

p.s it should be mentioned that in terms of the larger picture this really changes nothing, the top 3 countries qualify the exact same number of teams at the exact same phases of the European competition. What is really important for the future growth of German teams is that individual rankings of a few teams rise if they want to become established on the European stage. If, and now this is a really big if unfortunately, Dortmund qualify for next year's CL they and Schalke are almost guaranteed to be Pot 1 teams. That would be a monumentous achievement for the BuLi, to have three teams in the top 8.

We can say with 100% certainty that BL will be in front after this season. Calculation of coefficient won't include then season 10/11 which was good for England and Germany gets instant boost of 2.691 points.
Of course it doesn't change anything except that BL fans will have some argument that BPL is not better than BL at all.

Another good night for BuLi teams. I felt that after that fourth CL spot was obtained, results in the EL dropped a bit but this so far has been a good year for Gladbach and Wolfsburg. I see both teams as being able to win the tournament if they really focus on it. The extra incentive of a CL spot will do no harm either. Fairly sure the other top teams will look at that prize and aim for it.
