The difference between pot 1 and pot 2 is getting smaller every year. We have Juve, City, PSG and Dortmund in pot 2 and in pot 1 we for example have Benfica and Porto so it all evens out. I think being in pot 1 might not mean getting easier draws.

Bayer Leverkusen could actualy finish in pot 2, under circumstance that either Arsenal or Zenit St Peterzburg fall out of competition. And also that they qualify. Also, if Arsenal falls out, Schalge goes into pot 1 regardles of outcome of any other match.

Things looking very well for the Bundesliga. As long as Leverkusen and Dortmund don't **** up and finish in the top 4 this season we could overtake the EPL in the foreseeable future. That is going to be so sweet. No one derides the BL more than the EPL fans.

Not in the 2015 ones but in the 2016 ones. We're still a long way from overtaking the PL.

mutu, why? from now on the bundesliga only needs the same amount of points as the premier league to get 2nd place and the bundesliga will be 2nd when 15/16 starts. only before 12/13 doesnt count anymore we need more points than the pl again.

The UEFA coefficients of the current point in time are England 72.962, Germany 70.415.

When 15/16 starts, at the moment the Bundesliga is projected to be first. But the rankings really only matter at the end of the season.

The season is not finished yet, and nobody can say with certainty who will start 15/16 first, but really what matters is at the end of the 15/16 season not the start. That's the first realistic time the Bundesliga can say it overtook the Premier League.

That's how it works. Let's bring an example. At the end of 2009/2010, Italy was ahead of Germany.
At the start of 2010/2011 up to the end of 2010/2011, Germany was ahead of Italy.
Because Germany finished ahead of Italy at the end of 2010/11, for the 2011/12 season the first four German teams could now qualify for the Champions League of 2012/13. So really the final effect took place after a few years.

Now it's like the 2009/2010 season all over again, but with England instead of Italy. If Germany is to overtake England, then it will only really matter in 3 years' time :)

you're right.

that's why i said "from now on the bundesliga only needs the same amount of points as the premier league"

if that's going to happen: who knows.

As of 23-10-2014

Germany
Borussia D - 3 wins x2=6 points + bonus for group stage 4 points = 10 points
Bayern M - 3 wins + bonus = 10 points
Bayer L - 2 wins (qualif) 2 point + 2 wins 4 points + bonus 4 points = 10 points
Schalke - 1 win 2 points + 2 draws 2 points + bonus 4 points = 8 points
Borussia M - 2 wins (qualif) 2 points + 1 win 2 points + 2 draws 2 points = 6 points
Wolfsburg 1 win 2 points + 1 draw 1 point = 3 points
Mainz - 1 win (qualif) = 1 point 1 point

Altogether 48 points for Germany divided by 7 teams 6.857

This editor pisses me off so for England only general number which is 6.142

Rules
1. Each team gets two points for a win and one point for a draw (points are halved for matches in the qualifying and play-off rounds).
2. Clubs that reach the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Champions League, or the quarter-finals, semi-finals or final of the UEFA Europa League, are awarded an extra point for each round.
3. In addition, four points are awarded for participation in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League and four points for qualifying for the round of 16.
Current Standing England – 66.820 (for last 4 seasons) + 6.142 (current season) = 72.962
Germany – 63.558 + 6.857 = 70.415
The difference now is just 2.547 so if for example Arsenal, Liverpool and City are gone in this round and BVB, Bayern and Bayer go higher then just for that (p.2 above) the difference will be reduced by 2/7=0.286 + 8/7=1.143 (p.3 above) which gives us 1.429 points England advantage. Then we will see the rest. I think Germany will be No.2 after this season.
