Ribery did absolutely nothing. Gotta agree what an irritating match! We seriously have to consider a new LW, because Ribery just doesn't come off as a threat anymore. Gonna give him the benefit of the doubt since just came back from injury though.

At least we pressed and played overrall well in this game so im not that worried taking this result back to Munich. But it sucks that they didn't show it by putting points on the board.

To be fair, when Ribery is pressed that much, generally it means his teammates have loads of open space. But this match was a pressing/defensive masterpiece. Mourinho will watch a recording of the match and probably get a hard-on.

That's what age does to you. Ribery is in decline, getting slower, less dynamic.

You will qualify to quarters easily I think, a lot of time for you to improve before the second leg.

An unconvincing performance, to say the least.

And although I never say I hate other teams, I must admit that I found this Schaktar team particularly unlikable. I hope they get hammered in Munich.

Credit where it's due though, this was an amazing show of pressing. Can't believe they lasted 90 mins with such high pressing.

No. I don't dispute that. They performed that well. It is more about their dirty tricks and the sense of injustice that they didn't get half the cards they deserved. The ref wasn't entirely to blame - it was a difficult match to referee.

In such games, chances should be exploited effectively. We (Muller) didn't exploit the very few first half chances. Nonetheless, the result is still okay, but now we really have to step up in the return game to avoid a huge embarrassment.

I think it will be like with Basel, you played poorly in the first leg but at home you trashed them. I expect a convincing Bayern win in the second leg.

No. Bayern weren't that bad - unless by their own standards. To command posession away, in this stage of this competition, with 10 men is still significant. Nobody disgraced themselves. The only issues I saw were the sloppy passing, in effectiveness and, while Mueller was on, nobody in the box for a cross on many key occasions.

I can only expect this. Otherwise, it's going to get ugly.

To be fair, we had a good share of tough tackles. I think the referee was right in our yellow cards. Shakhtar could have received a couple more, but that doesn't really take away from the good performance of the referee.

Let me say this ... this is the last 16 of the UCL & not the BuLi... this was Shaktar D. "away" and not a shitty tm like HSV...
That said the team underperformed to its usual stanfards.
#The tension in the region
#the bas***d ref
#the pitch (is it synthetic?-most players seemed unable to control or pass the ball as usual)
#Pep's shitty tactics...
#Alonso cannot play alone I ve been saying this since last Sept.
