Not pretty, but we're through! =D>

Barca lost as well! Awesome day.

Vidal and Alonso were great today. Rest of the team is gonna have to step up, and Boateng's return is much needed.

At least we played somewhat enjoyable in the second half.
As good as Costa is in many aspects of the game, it really sucks to see him choke every time he gets a scoring chance. The game should have ended then and there.

Martinez's tackle is a little hard to understand, he clearly had no chance to get the ball and he should know that's a red card every time.

Barcelona out. If only Wolfsburg had done their job...

Hope we get Shitty and meet Real in the final.

Need to seriously fix that defense and, FGS, Neuer needs to regain his composture because he's making coolguycosta's comment rather sensible ATM.

5 in a row!

We have a long way to go but I see progress. I think we'll be ready by the time we play the SFs.

Well, considering their goals came from a direct free kick and a Neuer mistake, it wasn't too bad. I could get what Pep was trying to do in offense as well, so that was a positive. But the players were so, so lethargic executing the plan. I dunno, I feel like they underestimated Benfica. Not cool.

Anyway, here's hoping we don't get Atletico!

Also good thing Pep had the balls to keep Vidal on unlike what was demanded of him here by some. He (and Thiago) kept the team together in the final fifteen minutes.

Oh, two more things.

It seemed obvious during Pep's celebration of the second goal that the corner routine was rehearsed. Müller also confirmed it in the post-match interview. So much for neglecting corners. :D

Also, Thiago is more Bavarian than weisswurst nowadays, the glee he performed the humba with...

That's true but the chances of letting in 3 goals when we were 2-1 up with 20 minutes to go was very unlikely. Rode is good defensively.

In retrospect it might look good but it wasn't wise to keep him on considering the way Vidal was commiting fouls.

What scares me is that even if he's back for the SFs, he might not be on the same level he was before the injury.

Honestly, Bayern played a very strong match, except for the lapse in concentration for that 5 minute stretch in the first half. Lahm was excellent today getting forward and defending, Alaba as usual solid. Kimmich once again impressed in the back, Martinez solid on both ends. I was almost sure Vidal would get booked, very lucky he did not, but he played a fantastic match. Alonso was very good distributing today, and there were not too many defensive concerns because Bayern pressed very high after losing the ball. Costa was pretty decent, but his best chance came on the left hand side, further proving his best position is on the left. Ribery solid, Muller was a little quiet but there when we needed him. The problem is that when Muller is alone with no Lewa, if he gets pushed wide, there's no target man in the middle unless Vidal makes a run into the box, so I think that in general Lewa and Muller should start together if possible. Good match, and Barcelona lost too! I'd prefer Man City at this point, let the Madrid teams rip each other to shreds.

I agree. The risk:reward of keeping Vidal on til the end wasn't worth it to me. I also would've chosen to put Rode in, or Rafinha to shift Lahm to the MF.
