I've said this before, but I'll reiterate: Kimmich must not play CB, and I doubt Carletto will let him play there due to 1/ general inexperience (we all know Carlo) and 2/ lack of game time this season.
First choice CB to pair with Alaba if neither Boateng nor Hummels starts would be Alonso, and the second choice would be either Feldhahn or Vidal.

No way that suicidal back four of full backs are starting in the game of the season at Bernabeu.
We will place at least one CB even if he is at risk, we didn't risk players previously because they were needed for the big games, well now we have the biggest. IMO one of Boateng or Hummels will start even if they are not absolutely fit, it would be unreal if we place 4 full backs.

As for Rafinha - Bernat, I agree, I have said that I'd prefer Lahm LB and Kimmich/Rafinha RB. Bernat for the big games is a huge NO.

I wonder whether Carlo has considered the possibility of playing Alonso at CB.

It will be really interesting to see how much of a difference Lewandowski will make (knock on wood he plays). Will he make us look 3 times more of a goal threat or is Real Madrid too good? If it's the former, we desperately need to find a willing quality substitute for him next season.

Did he do it against Leverkusen? It was too much of a bore to be very attentive, but I think when Alonso or Lahm came on, Kimmich dropped to CB. So unless Ancelotti wanted to hide that possibility from Zidane, Kimmich is probably 4th choice after Alaba.

If hummels is not fit he should not be risked...

Agreed! We have an important match in Pokal coming up, no need to waste away the whole season...

FCBayernMunchen wrote:If we were to play the game 4-5 times, I'd expect us to qualify at least once, so I think 25% is realistic.

Seriously?
That is definitely Bayern-like Mia san mia and in our best times that would've been possible - but we are nowhere near that potential right now IMHO... I think it's more like 1 in 25...
Thanks for nothing, :pep: !!

4% chance is even less than the chances given in that UEFA article you posted, and those odds included the likes of BATE against football giants, of course they didn't turn the result.

I agree. I think one of Hummels & Boateng, if not both will be risked.
As players, if they are not going to take a risk for this game, then when?

Seems about right, weren't we the bookmakers' favorites to win the CL before the first leg? It's incredible how pessimistic some people are here. I think there was more optimism after we got beat 3-0 at Camp Nou. Actually, if we are to compare last 3 years' semi-finals' first leg results, this year we are going into the 2nd leg with the best result of the last 4 years

So?
You think some bookie has any effect on the outcome? They also change that based on the number and quality of bets, you know?
Still doesn't change the fact that in actuality 3 in 50 made it... I think one in 25 is pretty close... And I find it kind of amusing how you get all worked up and stuff over something supposedly out of this world... Why don't you start ranting when there is something TO rant about?

True, but that one works both ways, you know?

I don't think he's considered it nor am I sure I'd like it but it's a way of keeping experience in defence, playing Alonso, and playing Thiago and Muller together.
