Olympique Marseille vs Bayern Munich

Olympique Marseille vs Bayern Munich
Competition: Champions League
Venue: Stade Vélodrome, Marseille

In the Champions League 2011/2012 quarterfinals, FC Bayern will play against Franck Ribéry's former club, Olympique de Marseille, who eliminated Internazionale in the first knockout round. Bayern Munich has never played against Olympique Marseille before, but on paper are strong favourites to go through to the semifinal, which will be against the winner of Real Madrid and APOEL Nicosia.

Note to all: this match will be the first match played under CEST (Central European Summer Time), and for users from countries that don't switch to daylight saving do take note of the time. If you set your Operating System's timezone settings properly, you should see your local time above. If this is not working for you, or if you have troubles setting your OS' timezone, please post your query in this thread.

Otherwise you can follow the countdown timer at the top of every page.

It's funny that if Inter had qualified we'd be playing them AGAIN

Steve Mandanda and Souleymane Diawara are both suspended for this first leg. Mandanda is their first choice goalkeeper and Diawara is their central defender. We should therefore try our best to score at least one away goal.

But... but... but... but... but... (that is one but for each time they lost on their last 5 matches) why only one goal?

There is only one thing truly enviable from Marseille; their away shirt is AWESOME!

1-1 would be a great result considering our poor away form.

You can't say that, because if Inter had qualified instead, the draw could have been different or we could even have not qualified. You're changing the past which changes the future. :P

Didier Deschamps: "It will be difficult, very difficult for our team. Bayern is a team full of good individuals, and on each side lurks a potential danger. This is the best team in Europe after Barcelona and Real Madrid."

I expect us to defeat them at their home... I know it won't be easy, but our players have a psychological advantage over French teams IMO...

Mandanda is a superb goalkeeper and we need to push home any advantage we can get in him missing the first leg. In fact it's all superb goalkeepers against us in the CL - Sommer, Mandanda, Casillas... who plays in goal for Benfica?

Seriously though, I really want to see Mandanda get some more time with the French NT. Lloris isn't superman, you know.

Haha Hart. The guy who can't catch and hold on to a simple shot? Not going to rank him as "superb" just yet.

Yet don't forget that Lloris gave our forwards hard times before they managed to get through in CL 2009! However i believe Mandana will be humiliated when he gets to Allianze Arena !! our forward players are " on fire " these days !!
Maurinho must be worried now , and i can't wait to see us taking our revange from him ( CL 2009)!!

Deschamps' declaration implies that he expects us to eliminate Marseille and to lose against Real !!But i hope JH will prove him wrong (concerning our game against real) and kick their asses specially Maurinho's !!
