Yeah, that's really ridiculous.

Commodore wrote:Unrelated to that, do you guys remember when I ridiculed the "Kicker Noten" (the ratings Kicker gives to every player after every match)? I said they mean nothing and my example was David Alaba getting merely a 2.5 in both games vs Real.

Let's put this 2.5 rating into perspective, shall we?.

Guess who got a 2.5 vs Borisov? Franck Ribéry.

Kicker is telling us that Ribéry played just as well vs Borisov as Alaba did vs Real.

LOL Kicker Noten.

Ribéry scored a goal that would have started an epic comeback had Pizarro finished off his chance to make it 2-2. He also had a great shot that the keeper majestically pushed onto the woodwork. His 2.5 rating is fair if you take it solely on an individual basis. If Shaqiri had scored a totally individualistic hat trick in the dying minutes, you would have found no problem with Ribéry's rating, but because we lost you do. I'm sorry but that's not how player ratings works.

I'm not saying Ribéry didn't deserve a 2.5. All I'm saying is that 2.5 for both Ribéry vs Borisov and Alaba vs Real is ridiculous, and I stand by that.

They gave a 2.5 for what was a flawless performance against Real, and a 2.5 for a good performance against Borisov.

Not that I justify the rating but Alaba's performance was almost flawless. He did give a penalty - not intended but still...

Also IMO Ribery was our best player vs Bate. Probably it would be better to give more than 2.5 to both players but anyway rating is a mixture of stats and personal opinion of the writter and I wouldn't go so much into it.

It's funny that this argument is being brought up against Commodore who uses it so much

I agree with him though. Surely Alaba's performance against a much better opponent deserved a better rating...

It wasn't completely unintentional

This should not be relevant when compiling player ratings.

Well, and I'm arguing that it should. Ratings are to judge a player's performance. Surely it's more difficult for Alaba to pwn Ronaldo's ass than it is for Ribéry to dribble past a random BATE player. Also Alaba was effective offensively as well as defensively against Madrid, and ,as I have shown previously, Ribéry was fairly ineffective defensively vs BATE.

I guess my whole point is: Compiling a player's performance into a single number is stupid to begin with. Especially if you only have 11 tiers (from 1 to 6 including .5 decimals) to rate players, discussions like the one we're having right now will always pop up.

I don't think I will do this after every match, but when I do you can be sure I haven't read them or any other tactics blogs before doing my own analysis.

brickwall281 wrote:I didn't watch his match, but when I opened the results, and saw the score, I was thinking "no, there must be a mistake, Bayern must have won 3-1" but I checked my other sources and turns out there was no mistake. HOW COULD BAYERN LOSE TO A TEAM LIKE THIS!! Kroos missed an open goal, which was the main factor along with Manzūkiç's offside goal, and Ribéry going this lazy is purely unacceptable! Well on the bright side Sh*tmez was injured, so it could have been worse, especially if GoMiss was playing, we'd have lost more badly...

Yeah,

Thank god the guy who scored 40 goals for us last year is injured. I hope he just dies so he'll never score for us again.

Did u see his form vs Real, vs Dortmund, and vs Chelscum???

And yet technically he had the ball in the net 3 times against the above mentioned teams. Gomez: so prolific he still scores when he's off form.

Nice to know we "need Gomez" after one loss when we didn't before.

God I hate this knee-jerk bullshit.
