Schweinsteiger's utterly stupid yellow card gives the coach (and us) a tough selection headache. I am against fielding a weakened team as it would start the pressure cooker if Barca took an early lead. And at the same time, there's too much risk in fielding Bastian, Matinez, Lahm, and Dante at the same time.

I think the latter should stay on the bench as he is our defensive linchpin and there is no way we can replace him for the final, especially considering our counter-attacking possible opponents. We'll be playing a pretty compact system similar to the one we played yesterday, so it wouldn't be a problem to have the big Belgian start alongside Boateng. Plus, if anyone can exploit their set-pieces weakness better than any other, it is DvB. Lahm, on the other hand, is composed enough to avoid a booking. I'm not too much worried about that. He knows what's at stake, and he knows our 4-goal advantage.

I am worried about Schweinsteiger and Martinez as they are the players most suspect to yellows due to their roles. Gustavo should start this one as he is as much capable defensively as Martinez is. Bastian should be extremely careful during his time on the pitch. He should have the enough experience to do so. If things are scoreless at halftime, or we managed to score a goal, then Basti can be subbed out immediately.

If things go wrong at the half bring in Dante and Martinez to stop the bleeding, we still gotta make the finals before worrying about who is suspended....

I wouldn't rest more than one player but those in danger should be very very careful and should be subbed out if we score.
Super Bayern!

Obviously, any of these guys missing the final would be a big blow but, for me, Schweini is the one guy we cannot live without. Even though he has the experience to stay clean, as stated before, his role leaves him vulnerable to being booked. So I'd go with a Javi - Gustavo midfield and if its going bad, bring in Schweini to re-take control of the game if needed. I would hate to lose Javi for the final but Gustavo can play in "big" games. Otherwise, any one else can hopefully be subbed off at half-time as we will already have (hopefully) [-o< that away goal.

You all are forgetting that Gustavo too is only a card away from suspension. :|
And he really might get it because of his play.

^^True (i forgot bout him) but, Gustavo is easily the most replaceable of that group (assuming Javi and Basti stay clean).

This is just a formality match.
Rest all those with a yellow card away from suspension.

How do you think Gustavo will feel if he plays so that he is the 'sacrificed' one for the sake of Martinez ? :)

the problem is that out of the 5 players we have ready for suspension, there are 3 CDMs, 1 CB and 1 RB.... there's just too much at risk... :(

On the other hand, it's Barca... we can't bench them all, and use the likes of Tymo & Can in this match, can we?...

This puts a lot of importance on the defensive performance of our attacking players... we need to kill them with Mandzu and Mueller upfront... so that Schweinsteiger and Martinez are under less pressure... we need attacking players who understand the importance if this, and dedicate themselves 100% to the job...
if the things go our way at half-time, we need to start substituting our CDMs as they are most prone to getting yellow cards...

The fact that Jupp has managed to out coach every team so far this year i have full trust in whatever decision he makes. I bet he is racking his brain on which plan to initiate since he doesnt only have to worry about Barca but also the finals at Wembley...
