Comments on Group Rivals before match day 1 (15 Sep 09)

Postby tangolike » Mon Aug 31, 2009 10:04 am

I was watching Juve v Roma,
I was thoroughly impressed by their strike force Amauri + Iaquinta + Diego
Their defence is not bad at all with cannavaro Chielini .....
Midfield is not bad either with the like of Tiago

I think LVG and his assistants should thoroughly study Juve and Bordeaux....

I think this is a point to note for our team.
We need the team to gel fast and CM and defense to improve a lot.

I think we can discuss Bordeaux as well as Maccabi Haifa strong points and weak points.....

So launching thread for discussing specifically strong and weak points of the 3 teams, their strong players their strengths and weaknesses ......

I guess first players to discuss could be Juve attack : Diego + Amauri + Iaquinta

Juve's attack could be worrying because of our mediocre defense, but I'm more worried about Juve's defense. They have one of the best defensive lines in Europe, and if Gomez doesn't find his form fast, we could be in trouble.

Why do you say Gomez,
I think Gomez will not play against the likes of cannavaro, Chielini
I think Juve defense (especially CBs might be a little short on speed), I think runners will be the key, like Robben, olic ....

But regarding their attack I think Amauri can be a bully for LB and RB (like drogba)
Also Iaquinta and Trez are really good (remember last season Juve v Chelsea when Trez set up the goal in Turin with overhead pass)

And now they have Diego who we all know. I think we have to have 2 CDMs agains Juve....

If it's not Gomez, it will be either Toni or Klose. As much as I would like to see it, like someone pointed out yesterday, Robben and Olic can't play as central strikers, so we won't be seeing Ribery-Olic-Robben in attack. It would be wonderful if it worked though

Juve have one great defender. One of my favorites in CB spot- THE GREAT Chiellini. He is a ROCK! He is a man who I fear from. They signed Grosso. Grosso and Canna is two good defs too. Only their RB is not THAT good ;) Their mid- It was VERY avarage last season, but now they have signed two greats-Felipe Melo and Diego. Two brazilians. They are good ;)

Bordeaux have good attack. Chamakh and Cavenaghi are good forwards and Gourcuff-Gouffran are assisting them from mid. Also Alou Diarra is a beast at midfield[hasn't he been at Bayern Munich when he was young?]. They defence is not that good.

Easy, trap Diego and they're doomed. Tymo and MVB can do it.

That's why I don't like to use a classic 10, it's too predictable. Besides, I don't think they can handle Robbery ;)

Completely forgot about Bordeaux
Whats there besides Diarra and Gourcuff to look out for there.

When draw was made commentator was saying Gourcuff vs Ribery

I wish our team plays good so as to prove there is more than Ribbery+Robben in our team

Yeah, anything can happen in football. Look at last season. We only managed a 1-0 victory against Steau Bucharest

Is not 50/50 in Israel, bayern must win this game so is like 90/10. When bayern played with steua, that game finished 1-0 and it was okay because they played in bucarest. But maccabi haifa is very weak there will not be excuse it they cant win.
