With Leverkusen certain to go out to Barcelona, getting coefficient points from the EL would be really nice. Frankly, I hope Schalke win the whole thing - they've got the means to mount a serious challenge. Mostly for Raul's sake though - I like the guy and he deserves one more unique trophy in his trophy case.

Stoke v Valencia is a beautiful draw too. Probably the closest we'll ever get to answering the cliche "Barcelona's good, but are they good on a rainy night in Stoke"? :P

Awesome! Perfect! not that I underestimate Basel but I think it's the best option for us especially after coming back from the CL break.

tough luck for Leverkusen though

Leverkusen midfield is very very bad. I think they will be demolished by Barça :x

If they play like they did against Valencia in BayArena they will concede 4 or 5 goals. Hopefully Renato Augusto will be fit for that match. I haven't heard anything of him in a very long time

Leverkusen are guilty of getting Barca...they could have won their last game in their group and they would finnish 2nd...if they had won they would play against Napoli who are also quite good...but not even close to Barca:)

That`s why it is important to finnish top of your group:)

Here's a good old punch to the pelvis.

FIFA is demanding that the Swiss FA punish FC Sion for their suspect activities in the transfers market.
If the Swiss FA should fail to do so, all Swiss teams will be disqualified from EL/CL.

Here's the kicker, if this should happen, FC Basel would be automatically disqualified and Manchester United would take their place.
We would then face Manchester United instead of our Swiss neighbours.

Ta ta!

Yes there is. United was edged by Basel to the last sixteen. If Basel would be disqualified, a scenario resembling the Trabzonspor/Fenerbahe incident would occur. Ergo United would take Basels place.

Or we could get lucky, Basel would lose on walk over.

Or most likely, the Swiss FA will punish FC Sion.

I'm fairly sure FIFA can't ban teams from UEFA the Champions League.

And as for UEFA, I doubt they'll want to mess with a club who has a guy as president of the ECA. Not if they want to keep the Champions League going.

It's absolutely shocking that it has got to this stage.

FIFA appears to have their own rules and regulations, yet Sion got the backing of the Swiss courts, and the court of Sports Arbritration, yet FIFA still insist they are wrong.

It's a shambles.

Obviously I'm hoping Basel stay in the competition as I'd rather play them that Man Utd, but it's be a joke right from the start.

If only.

If they did throw Basel out the competition, then Man Utd would take their place ergo what happened when Sion were thrown out and Celtic took their place after being trounced over two legs in the Europa League qualifiers.

They would have to do that, to maintain consistency in the matter.
