At his age it shouldn't be a surprise. So now is Albelda, Canales and Piatti out. I am a bit more worried about that soldier dude, he is hitting form again, raising his average from the usual .5 goals per game to a +-1.2 or sum'zin.

Soldado? I always think he is the strongest point of Valencia.
Jesus saves, but Kahn does it better ;)

I don't think he was, but due to the fact that Gago might miss the match, I guess Valencia were counting on him to start.

I think that Valencia are not the team we should be afraid about although this is the first match to Bayern against little bit tougher team. However Valencia is not the same as they were 10 years ago and I'm quite sure that we are taking 3 points.

Even if we lose both games against Valencia we still have a decent chance of qualifying, I think.

Somehow I just don't see Mainz tying with Madrid at the Bernabéu; or loosing by just one lucky goal vs Barza at the Camp Nou.

Too true, but Barca and Real are off to fairly slow starts (RM anyway).

Don't forget you need to factor in that Bayern shift up 2 or 3 gears in the Champions League.

Yes of course but Mainz is not playing in La Liga so you can not compare that. (I know that´s mad said but it´s so)
You forgot one thing: Mainz is BL and Valencia is CL and what I wanted to express with my worrienes about saturday is that in my opinion it is much harder to compete against a small team on weekend in BL then against a, let´s say "half strong" team in CL under the week. It´s because of the passion of everyone to play CL. Do you remember one year ago? Everyone said ManC. would be stronger then we are, the EPL is much stronger then the BL and a lot more things like this. But we showed who is the stronger one. Some time later we lost in Hannover ... so would you say Hannover would have destroyed them? I mean you can never compare this two things ... I remember when we lost against Braunschweig some years ago in the early Pokalstages.
And Barca is not really playing well at the moment.
