Didn't get to see the second half, but I'm happy about the clean sheet most of all.

Still, I'm not convinced of much based on the first half and the result itself. How did Ribéry and Costa do in the second half?

Ribery was more productive in the second half than Costa and as Frankfurt game, Ribery was our best weapon on attack. (Apart of Vidal)

Costa didnt play well, so for me is clear that he is not an inverted winger, he seems more comfortable playing on the left side, where his crosses with his best leg (left foot) can be more letal and consequently can have a better performance.

So my doubt for the second leg match is who should start in the left side, Ribery or Costa. Maybe the match in Stuttgart, while Ribery take a rest, Costa could play there to see if he is playing bad in overall or only because is not in his favorite side.
Super-Bayern! Super-Bayern! Hey! Hey!

Thiago played horrible today. Was invisible for most of the time and only appeared for losing possesion. Something similar to the game against Juve, but on that day he scored a great goal after that.

Overall all our attackers had a day off and it could've been costly because with this defense we can concede a goal pretty much anytime. But Neuer was there with the big saves. And also Vidal's form keeps improving day by day. MOTM for sure =D>

At the end of the day, we got a 1-0 score at home which is a very good one and now the CL semis look closer.

Look at what Barcelona had to do to get a 2-1 at home today.

Felt like he was way too conservative to not take a yellow card. Idk, I rather believe that than think he's getting out of form.

Please Pep, only play one of Ribery and Costa. Costa dribbles seem to have got more predictable, and that's exactly what I was complaining about Coman back then

Costa dribbles because he was being played as an inverted winger, so he can't use his speed at full like he can on the left side, so he must try tricks or dribbles to get past players.
Ribery occupying his place on the left is making "problems". Costa isn't an inverted winger and will never be.
Costa on the right is a WASTED position on the team.

Somebody above me said - Vidal vs Benfica seemed boring. That summed it up nicely.

New to the forum... just a few observations
1) Bayern played rather complacent today... seems as though Pep was focused on not conceding the away goal
2) The makeshift back line can't hold up against great teams. Javi is needed desperately and I hope Boateng is recovering well
3) Costa isn't as effective playing on the right as he is on the left. Thiago played rather poorly today
4) Vidal played his best match to date, irrespective of the goal. Box-to-box, aggressive, but smart: exactly why Bayern bought him in the first place
5) Don't fret over Muller-Lewandowski... they saved us against Juventus. Post-international break always sucks. They will recover their form

Nobody is saying anything bad about Lewy and Mueller. Just that they had a poor game. We know how important are both for the team

Good review. I agree with everything you've said

One of the positives of yesterday is that we have kept a clean sheet in 5 out of our last 6 matches (Dortmund, Bremen, Cologne, Frankfurt and Benfica).

You are damn right... since that Juve match we've seen a big slump in form...
That Koeln match was horrible as well...
Either Juve fans jinxed us or else we just hit a low in form...
I guess it is the former to be honest

Yeah! the Kimmich-Alaba combo finds it hard to play against aggressive/physical attacking players, as expected... Both are playing excellently, nonetheless... It's just that they are not born with the body of a central defender...

Typical Bayern after winterpause under Pep Guardiola! It's a shame, third year in a row that after the winter break we're dropping our form
