I really don't know what's worse... our players picking up yellows tomorrow and missing the home game against Real, or our players risking it and could potentially be suspended for the final.

Then again if they miss the first game we might not reach the final anyway.

It's at a time like this that you regret having a weak bench

I can personally guarantee that Gustavo will pick up a yellow card (if not more) in any of the following games :D :D :D Boateng is also highly probable. However, Kroos and Muller should be able to avoid a card from now till the final (that is if we reach it of course).

If Boateng and Gustavo both receive a card, we will be having Gomez playing as CB for the next game

I fear Kroos more than Gustavo to be honest. Once Schweinsteiger is back, Gustavo may stop playing for Bayern anyway.

Gustavo is ok, we have Tymo.

Kroos and Muller are important players but if we have Schweini fit and they don't miss the same game, we should be able to handle them.

Boateng is irreplaceable though imo, even after DVB is fit again.

Assuming Marseille match goes ok with no yellows:

If they get their yellow cards in the first match against Real and we manage to win, we might still make it. If they get their yellow cards in the first match against Real and we lose, we probably wouldn't be able to make up for it in the second match anyway (using players that aren't as good after losing some of our best to yellows. Kind of like what happend with the Manchester City match when everyone was down with flu).

So I think if they are going to pick up any yellows, it should be the first Real match for our best shot this year.

Anyways i'm looking forward to this Marseille match. Should be fun!

Why didnt boateng just get a **** yellow last match
0-2 the game was played.

Gustavo is definitely going to miss one of the coming matches anyways.

However I'd rather reach the final crippled than not reach it. Therefore we should meet Real on full power :)

Gustavo will be banned sooner or later, but it's ok 'cause we have Tymo and Schweini coming back.
The big deal is about Kroos/Muller. They can't be banned at the same time :(

Anyway, let's focus on Marseille. This ain't over YET.

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has pledged to select his best available starting XI to face Marseille in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second-leg clash.

The Bavarians have a 2-0 aggregate advantage heading into the second leg, but the trainer will take no risks, citing a warning sign in the French side's comeback from 2-0 down to earn a 3-2 win away to Borussia Dortmund earlier this season.

"Of course we have a psychological advantage from the result of the first leg, but against Dortmund, Marseille proved what they could do in the Champions League," Heynckes told reporters.

"My line-up will not be influenced at all. Also, I think we have very intelligent players in our team who know how to behave on the field."

Toni Kroos, Thomas Muller, Luiz Gustavo and Jerome Boateng all face suspension should they receive a yellow card.

Due to a strike by French air traffic controllers, Marseille's flight to Munich was delayed by six hours. They were originally scheduled to depart at 10am and had to leave at 4pm.

If Muller and Boateng had gotten themselves a yellow card last match we'd have been in a much safer position, I'd rather face Marseille with a weaker squad than Madrid!

We are in a small mess.
Solution :D
First: Either Kroos or muller should play vs Marseille and NOT both. In place of Muller, Olic or in place of Kroos Pranjic. Prefer the first option: Muller on the bench because if Kroos plays and gets a yellow, we have Schweini vs Real Madrid so no big deal.In Midfield: Tymo and Kroos which are a good combination.
Second: Here is the toughest decision with Boateng/gustavo...I think Boateng is key for our defense meaning that we can't be risking him at all. Gustavo is as important but we have no other option. So Gustavo along Bads at CB.
-------Neur
Lahm----Gustavo-----Badstuber----Alaba/Contento
------Tymo-----Kroos----
Robben-----Olic-------Ribery
-----------Gomez

OR

--------Neur
Lahm-----Tymo-----Badstuber-----Alaba/Contento
---------Kroos-----Pranjic
Robben-----Olic-------Ribs
--------Gomez
The second option is very safe for the yellow card situation( but a bit dangerous in defense) with only Kroos being in danger but as i said Schweini will play vs Real so not a problem if kroos is suspended.
I think those are the best 2 options what do you think???
ronnie98
Yeah, now I'm talking!

The referee for this match will be the Norwegian Svein Oddvar Moen. He was the referee during that embarassing Leverkusen defeat at the hands of Barcelona (7-1).

The good news is that the referee for the Real Madrid match is Gianluca Rocchi. He is a harsh referee and in the last 3 matches he refereed, he produced 23 cards, 4 of which were red.

I guess the only good news is Mandanda coming back from suspension.
