I imagine we will win this, but as already mentioned, Zurich will probably just defend, and we know how hard it can be for us when teams do that. I just hope we can score at least two goals. 1-0 in a two-leg playoff is not comfortable even if Zurich are unlikely to beat us in the reverse.

That's the kind of thing that players shouldn't say before the match. You are motivating even more the opposite team.

Yes you're right. It smells of arrogance and overconfidence and I hope it doesn't come back to bite us.

Guy was just honest. Let's face it - Zürich isn't a top team.

Bayern need to respect their opponents. But they have to show a certain amount of arrogance.

PS: This match (and also the 2nd leg) will be broadcast live by free-to-air TV channel SAT1.

Bayern will need to play at a high tempo from the very start of the match. Robbery will need to be on the move all of the time,, same with Mueller and Gomez.

I they do not force this game, then Zurich will be glad to sit back and wait for the return leg.

Agreed, this was not a smart thing to say.

Arrogance would be saying

"Yes, they are a good team, they are in Champions League Qualifiers in teh same position as us, but we have the team to beat this team and progress and it is nothing other than what a Byern team should be looking to do, as we have aspirations for not only qualifying for this tournament, but for winning it."

Indeed.... showing TOO much respect at all times didn't appear to work for us recently... sometimes you have to pull a "reality check" to send a strong message to your opponents... let them be motivated... in that way they will try to attack us and we'll have much more space to screw around with :D :D

Rattle and annoy the opponents a bit like Mohammed Ali. They might get so annoyed, which can provoke foul/sending off. Matches can be won before the kick off.

Talk big (arrogant) but stay calm. I really want to see a lot more of MIA SAN MIA

Don't you guys remember what happened against Dortmund/Grosskreutz last season?

They were extra motivated because of that and kicked our ass badly.

I also remember Sergio Ramos saying that they were going to win 3-0 against Lyon and then Lyon drew in Bernabeu 1-1 (and kicked Madrid out of the CL) and their players said that they took the newspaper where Ramos said that and pasted it in their locker room, so they read it everyday before the match.

Or Mourinho against Barça last season and then 5-0

Or Kahn saying that he won't concede 2 goals in Bernabeu and we lost 2-0

Or Salihamidzic saying that Real Madrid pissed in their pants playing against Bayern... and then they kicked us out of CL

And there are thousands more examples that prove the opposite. Usually, when a bigger team trashtalks, they still win. He did not doom us to the Europa League.

Of course you can win because you are better, but saying that doesn't help

If we play against Madrid and they say "Bayern isn't a big deal. Their last European Trophy was more than 10 years ago" don't you think that our players will play 150%? Underestimate your opponents is a typical mistake.

I am expecting Zurich to play with 10 men behind the ball (a.k.a. parking the bus in front of their goal), and we've all seen how increasingly difficult it has been for us when opponents have done that.

I agree with Mutu, Zurich will certainly play a classic bunker game with the philosophy of "better to receive 3 goals than 8 goals", and will rely on counter attacks. Although in my opinion, no team can defend for whole 90 minutes, once their concentration must fall, and that moment of inattention we must use to score a goal. After the first goal everything will be easier, at least I hope so :)

But this is only my opinion :)
