Klinsman, van Gaal, Nerlinger, HMWM. Someone always gets axed on a bad season. It is as certain as death and taxes.

I share the pessimism (or realism if you prefer), and I'd say it would be a historical result for Bayern if we do manage to go through.

I know this may sound silly, but as a fan, it's kind of nice to not be favored to advance. All the pressure is on Porto now to hold on against a broken Bayern. Let see, and let's hope.

We'll go through. It is entirely possible.

Remember Getafe?

Same here. Worst timing possible. It will take a miracle to make the semis.

I wouldn't say a miracle, but I'd value our chances at something like 30%.

How can any Bayern fan who watched that match ever forget that magical night (or morning, depending on your timezone)? :)

It's time for us to see if we have the mental strength to come back, something that we showed under LvG for example. I'd be more confident if Robben was playing though, I know he'd never give up.

I fear that Lahm might miss the game. Gastroenteritis today, and be fit on Tuesday? Sounds pretty optimistic. Schweinsteiger has been out with the flu since last Saturday, and he's not fit for tomorrow to play.

And there are three more days left to pick up more injuries and virus infections.

I'm reading that generally vomiting lasts 1-2 days and diarrhoea 3-4 days. It takes longer to be fully recovered, but he can at least do individual training as soon as his fever is down and the vomiting stops. He might need to take a toilet break every now and then though :)

The only risk which the team needs to take is how much to expose him to the rest of the team because of the risk that someone else catches it.

Last year Dortmund decimated by injuries almost eliminated Real. Why Bayern can't do it? They have to play very aggressive game and finally give some opportunities to Muller and Lewa to let them show what they can do in the box. That's all.

Schalke also beat Real missing almost half of their first team and playing with four teenagers. But Real were awful in that game.

Of course everything is possible but we need at least 2:0. If we concede, it's 3:1 to even get to extra time. Last thing we need is another extra time game.

Stomach flu can be over in three days. It can also take much longer.

So now we have a virus sweeping through our squad?. It's a new crisis every day at the minute. Fortunately I've more or less come to terms with elimination now, and looking ahead to the remaining competitions, winning the league and challenging for the Pokal

Lahm is out from Hoffenheim's game due to gastroenteritis and is unlikely to start against Porto...

I think it's a very real possibility that we'll be without them both. Or, if they can play, it's only 10-20 minutes max. :?

You're right but on other hand Porto is not Real either.
From all those posts I can see that Bayern can't exists without 31-33 years players. Next year they will older yet so where will be Great Bayern then?
Don't exaggerate! Those guys in front have to have a lot of opportunities and they will show why they are called world class players.
With squad currently available to Bayern they should win easily, but they have to forget about possession play at least to the moment they have proper lead.
