What do you think we SHOULD do, and what do you think we WILL do?

I think we should go all out at the start of the match to try and score an early goal (option 1), but after that, whether we do score or not, attack with more moderation (option 3).

I think Heynckes will opt for option 3 throughout the whole match though, providing we are not needing a goal late in the match.

Option 1

Option 3 first since it would be really scary if basel score first. If no chances have been created after 30-35 minutes then we go all out with Option 1 for the rest of the game. It doesn't matter as long as we play like we did against hoffenheim although Basel will be far more competitive than hoffe. Basel will kill themselves on defense so i predict if we get a first goal soon then its 60% we would qualify. If they score first, then our chances will be at 20-25% needing 3 goals #-o #-o

We need to take it calmly...

We cant afford to concede a goal because we would than have to score 3 goals. Best thing is to calmly introduce our domination in midfield and not to stand too much upfront...we need to drop deeper so we can have some space to attack.

I have a feeling that Muller will shine.

I think our first 15 minutes must be explosive. We need to show them who we are. If we start the game calmly they will become more confident. We need to scare them from the beginning, just as English teams do in CL

Then if we are still 0-0 after that we can slow down a little bit

I think we are all a bit worried given how inconsistent we have been recently.
2-0 or even 3-1 is definitely do-able though, we just need our big guns on song.

I want us to go for that early goal with full powered attack from the beginning at home at the Allianz. Robben is looking good recently to save our CL butts once again.... [-o<

Also, will Bastian be starting? If not, bringing him on second half would really tighten us up in defence if we do get that early lead. Great to have him back.

I think so too but I'd rather not. He doesn't seem ready to me, judging by last Saturday

Goal.com seems to think Lahm will play at RB again and Alaba will be at LB... How do we think he will go against Shaqiri?

Also, Basel's normal LB Jo-Hoo Park will miss the game, with Philip Degen expected to replace him. Never seen him play, can he handle Robben?

Why do we keep quoting Goal.com is beyond me. Degen hasn't played left back this season. I don't think they would be experimenting on this game. He played very well last match, against Grasshoppers; scored a goal too. He started as a right back, his natural position. Of the four games he started, they only let one goal in. Then again, this is the Axpo league.

Designated replacement should be Kay Voser who has started as a left back replacement on 5 games this season of which they only managed to win 1. You could say he basically sucks.
