We really can't. Robbery needs to go on the bench. Anyway I don't think Jupp will bench either of Javi or Thiago, so we might expect a return to 4231 once both are available.

Need to dump 4141 for good and only play 4231 from now on. Also should start practicing with a 442 or a back three for Barcelona.

4-6-0 could be a solid option as well

Against Barca? How so?

Can you show a sample formation?

No more 4-1-4-1 crap. Instead:

With Robben coming on for Coman and Wagner for Lewandowski.

Robben has to start no matter what lineup you make..drop james or muller but robben has to start..he's our 2nd biggest goal threat and one of the very few who looks to go for it himself instead of, looking for a pass even when he has an empty net in front of him.

I'm convinced this has to do with James' and Vidal's contract stipulations and a 18+ point cushion more than Jupp's true desire to keep Tolisso, Javi and Rudy on the bench.

Javi plus Thiago or Rudy in midfield with Mueller James Coman behind Lewa

It's time to let go of Robben. He is completely ineffective nowadays. Neither James nor Müller should be dropped for him.

James is currently our best or second best player. Dropping him is just out of the question. Müller shouldn't be dropped either, when Müller does well, Bayern does well.

I think Jupp is just practising with the 4-1-4-1 in case we need a goal or two in the final minutes of a CL second leg.

If anything Bayern should soon start practicing defensive formations like 442 or a 343 for when Bayern comes up against Barcelona and/or Manchester City. In the tactics and formations thread I’ve raises this point.

As Heynckes said, a formation is about interpretation, a 4-1-4-1 change easily to a 4-2-3-1 when James go back to the midfield for support Vidal.

But the major problem about bayern performance against Schalke was that they struggle to develop or finish a counterattack when they recover the ball and caught Schalke in bad position because their high pressing.

In other times, with Robbery in top form, Schalke would paid high their strategy.

I think Heynckes will use a 4-2-3-1 for besiktas game, with Javi as pure 6, with Vidal making tough and physical our defensive and offensive game, while James and Lewandowski looking for score.

The question is who will play between Coman/Ribery and Robben/Muller?...

My answer is: Trust in Heynckes desicion!.
Super-Bayern! Super-Bayern! Hey! Hey!

In the Bundesliga since Jupp's return:
Muller: 758 minutes played, 4 goals and 7 assists(11 scorer points), 1.31 scorer points for 90 minutes played, Raumdeuter who creates space for his teammates and defends like he's a box to box midfielder.

Robben: 723 minutes, 2 goals and 4 assists(6 scorer points), 0.75 scorer points for 90 minutes played, winger who is occasionally selfish and doesn't provide much defensively.

Clearly, we should bench the player who scores more often in addition to providing more to the team

I agree with Prasun

Robben is the man for KO rounds. I wouldn't bench him. At least not yet.
