Really, fair enough, but you can't fault a coach in general if the ball was asking to be finished but it was done so poorly. The Costa lob, the fluffed Vidal shot and Javi and Benatia headers were chances already served on a fine plate but the players didn't capitalise. We should've created more? Maybe, but we shouldn't have had too if those perfectly good chances were finished.

Well, it's not always easy... And you're not wrong... But I still think we should've decided to play for the whole game... ANd then I'm sure one would've gone in... We're putting pressure on ourselves to score in the second... There was enough of that as it is... More pressure never helps...
Actually, we've had this problem like all season... We had like 5 goals in the first 45 until close before winter break, I think...

I agree completely and I've addressed the first 15 minutes in a previous post. Again I'll say Pep, Alonso, Alaba and Bernat were at fault. As far as I'm concerned, these 4 people made us lose the game.

Alonso played a pretty good game after those 15 minutes (when ALL Bayern players, except Vidal were lost) and he WASN'T at fault for the goal, so I don't know what you're talking about. He made a tackle, which he shouldn't even had to if Thiago and Bernat did their job.

You can bash Alonso for other things, not for yesterday. He was like Beckenbauer compared to Thiago.

Just look at this video and tell me where is Alonso's fault. Look at Thiago and that lost fool Bernat. Only when Alonso saw Saul got past them, he attempted the tackle .Cause I don't see any other debatable situation regarding him :!:

(I'm kinda tired of typing at this point...)

When I talk the first 15 minutes, I wasn't just talking about moments before the goal. We were pressed so hard and the climax was a stupid goal, and in my opinion Alonso was part of the reason they were able to press us like that. He sits deep, but can't push forward or even hold the ball physically, so he resorts to passes. This wasn't a problem in Barcelona because of Busquets (well, their problems were entirely different to ours though). I just didn't like that we were pressed. Alonso did nothing wrong in terms of decisions, but that was his limit and we needed more. Just like Bernat, it was his limitations rather than what he did or didn't.

Also, to be honest, you could argue that he should've taken Saul out too. I bet Lahm would've.

Bayern did not lose the game on this single goal, it was more than that, the goal is just a manifestation of bigger things that happened before and during the game but I fully agree with you that neither Alonso or Alaba are responsible for the goal.

Thiago committed too early and was left behind unhooked and Bernat failed to cover up even when he was in the right position.

Well, I am also upset about many things from last night, but we did have many GOOD chances. I can recall the following:

1- Alaba's long range shot hitting the post (as you mentioned)
2- Lewa's tight angle shot (as you mentioned)
3- Vidal's long range shot saved by Oblak
4- Martinez clear header from a corner saved by Oblak
5- Costa's "ugly" lob from a precise Lahm long ball
6- Benatia's header in stoppage time
7- Vidal's mis-shot in stoppage time after Muller's set up

Anyone one of those, with a tiny bit of luck and/or precision, could have been an equalizer and more.

Also Coman had a good action with a solo run.

I will repeat these words of another Bayern fan about pep because reading this last night actually hurt me more than the loss.

"I almost feel bad for the people who haven't come to terms with what an amazing squad and years of some of our favorite players primes this guy has squandered with his asinine bullshit. It's not fun to think about. We should have been one of the top dogs for real and carried the torch but instead we've been pretenders."

In my opinion he has captured in less than three sentences what pep has meant for Bayern.
Respect!

We only leveled the game after they went ahead. They came into the game with a plan score one and defend it. Confident that would be enough they were disciplined focused and carried it out to perfection. The big question that needs to be addressed regarding the second leg, can they outplay us at will?

I'm sorry, but I've seen a few comments here that are just... Muller and Lewa don't work together? Are you kidding me? There are certain players you don't bench because they can decide a game for you, and he's one of them. And Lewa being isolated is useless in transition offense. An extra man in midfield? C'mon, Thiago was invisible and Alonso helped Atletico score, so that extra man did nothing to help us. I don't constantly hate on Pep, but nothing in my mind can justify his decisions in late stage UCL, particularly this year.
