Subs: Martinez = Kimmich, Thiago = Lewandowski, Robben = Coman, Ribery = Costa... depends on who looks more tired.

But height is needed in this game... Benatia is a must as he's the best in air. I'd feel pretty much safe with this formation...

Yes. Hopefully Robben will also be ready, they're his kind of team.

I'd like something like this, if Boa and Robben are fit in time:

Ribery as super-sub.

I love Kimmich but we need the height at the back against these guys.

Benatia the best in the air ? Maybe. But he doesn't know how to place his body on the pitch.

It's like Walcott speed ... useless 85% of the time.

And we saw against Juventus than Benatia doesn't know how to do a good pass ... except to a partner really next to him (like 5 meters).
Weak against pressing (which Atletico does brillantly).

Benatia is maybe the worst solution.

Bayern 3-3-3-1 build-up under Heynckes :
Neuer - Boateng Hummels Thiago - Kimmich Vidal Alaba - Robben Müller James - Lewandowski
Neuer- Boateng Vidal Hummels- Kimmich Martinez Alaba- Robben James Ribéry- Lewandowski

If I don't see Benatia in the pitch I'm 100% sure that we'll concede from a set piece... and that maybe more than once. Simeone was a master for set pieces as a player and now he made this team one as well. I'm sure that they'll bet most on set pieces...
I'm afraid that Lewandowski would be useless in this game...

Lewa+Muller duo here is a must. Muller can't play at a high level as a false 9, and we've just seen that. Muller floating around Lewa would be our only weapon against them centrally, if Thiago isn't in his best form. Other than that, we would have to play only through the wings.

I would actually consider leaving Lewy on the bench...

I agree. Some of our nicest goals this season have been through great build-up plays between Thiago and the forwards through the middle of the field (Thiago's goal against Juve; there was an insane play between Lewy, Thiago, and Costa in one of the group stage matches but I don't remember which one). This is the kind of goal I think Atlético will be somewhat weaker against. Not just through the middle, but cutting through from the wings as well. Aerial crosses will be next to useless against that defense.

Forgot to point out that set pieces are something totally different... he knows very well to place himself for set pieces, he's always winning those duels... he could be even very dangerous in front of goal if he fixed that accuracy...

We'll possess the ball all the time, so why not go with a lineup that does the best in possession?

Neuer - Alaba, Kimmich, Boateng, Lahm - Vidal, Thiago - Ribery, Costa - Lewa, Müller

Pressing is everything and the only way we know how to defend. Kimmich is just better with the ball imo, and he actually has some pace, so I wouldn't mind him starting in defense.

Did we not score past Juventus?

Nope I just came to realize he was talking about bayern II ..hence he stands corrected..perhaps he was being generous i would give them 3% chance..

If we can beat Juventus, we can beat anyone left in this competition.
