Oh well... So it's Atletico.
Can't say I'm happy with that draw, especially playing the first leg away, but it's a very interesting match and I can get some good things out of it.

1) Bayern are familiar with deep sitting teams with tight defenses, altough at a lower level. We played Juventus who actually have fantastic defense and organization, and we played against Benfica.
2) Atleti arguebly have the worst offense of the last 4. That clearly shows in their results this season. Good for us, because Boateng and Martínez will not be at 100%.

What's important:

Not depend on our home game: We need to replicate the first 60 minutes at Juve. Not lose and at least score an away goal. A goal conceded at home would be deadly if we don't get the right result in the Calderon.
Press high, widen the game and put pressure on their defense.

I also think I'll put anybody on my ignore list who starts crying in this thread before the first game is even played.

We can do this!

I am OK cause if we lose it will be against a tm which I don't detest or that I consider as evil...
And better now than in another final... I am also happy that we avoided City...

So... Not ideal but Real is tougher in my opinion. People are overrating them. Yes, they eliminated barca and played very well. But that Barca team is not the same from the start of the year. We are the the favourites, no doubt. So if Boateng is fit, Kimmich should start in the middle with Vidal. Alonso shouldn't start, he is too slow. I feel confident, their attack is nowhere near as scary as ours. Let's hope we can break their bus with our creative wingers and midfielders, which will be really hard.

Come on Bayern! It will be tough, but we can do it!

For once, I think Boa-Javi-Benatia or Javi-Benatia would be the best options at the back. They are a real threat in the air and Boa is not good at all at aerial interceptions.

Any body knows if Pep ever played against Simeone's Atlético? (As a coach I mean)

Agreed.

- Thiago - Vidal -
---- Kimmich ---

Would be good.

One of the first things I did was search this. As far as I found out, Simeone's Atletico only played against Pep's Barca once. 1-2 to Barca in Madrid. This was Simeone's first season and Pep's last.

Yeah, they faced each others in the season 2011-12.

So Pep knows Atleti better than Simeone knows Bayer..

He would bring more stability during set pieces - yes. But as far as I know the line up that played against Barca. Godin is the only real aerial threat as far as I know. I would much rather have more stable defence by starting Javi.

One plus is that Atletico hardly know us, but Pep knows them very well.
Atletico are always great against Real and Barca because they know them perfectly, but against the other teams, they're not really shining.

I expect them to be the most dangerous in set pieces... That's their best bet.
