Just saw this. Surprising Ozil actually covered that much distance and didn't bother to track Lahm for Kroos' goal. Guess he was running like a headless chicken.

Too much Ozil bashing going on, mostly by Arsenal fans.
And I just read that Ozil ran the 3rd most of all the players on the field. 11.69kms was the figure quoted.
Surely not a lazy player as everyone would have you believe. They expect him to become their Messiah or something. Ozil is brilliant but he can't do it on his own. He's someone who'll fit as cog in a system/cogs of his quality.
Some Arsenal fans just don't want to see the mediocrity(not poor level, it's on good level) over their team. They were cursing Wenger when he brought in Flamini in summer for a free transfer. Now they can't imagine to win a game without him. LFC defeat was pinned on Flamini's absence and Ozil's poor performance. I tell ya Cazorla was literally absent in that game. But yeah, Ozil giving the ball away at half-line lead to a goal so he's surely at fault. FFS, there are 6 players behind him whose job is to get that ball back. So you see where I am going!
Everyone feigns over Wilshere. He was far better last year in this tie than he was yesterday. Plus he's a moaner, a constant one at that. And falls easily, not that I have any complaints but hey, he really does it very very often. Wouldn't even come close to any top side's squad. He has miles to go in level of performances, if not that then obviously consistency.

I'm neutral towards Ozil. Also, I'd rather have Kroos start as 10 for German NT.

But pinning every loss on Ozil is just a petty excuse.
Look at Wenger, the root is there. And the branches spread out on the team sheet.
They are good but this habitual moaning/blaming after every loss is shameful.

They might even go on to the QFs after beating us but they've got to make some changes. Start with some objectivity.

PS : Not that we are going to lose 0-3 at home. Lessons have been learnt.

Like a referee said one time: the game ends at the 90th minute; that other game, the one analyzed by the media later on with slow motion replays and all that stuff is another game that was never played.

Out of curiosity, are we the team that has received most penalty calls against in this season's champions league? Manchester City, CSKA Moscow and now Arsenal have had penalties against us, 3 penalties in 7 games.

And yet still some deluded people think that the ref is on our side... #-o

You know, I have a similar experience. For all I know, Bayern beat Dortmund in the Cup Final 2012 with 2-0. But there are some people that claim, that Dortmund scored 5 goals that evening. I really don't know why anyone should say this.

Completely crazy right?! How could anyone believe Dortmund beat Bayern 5-2 lol!

BeIN sports is actually al Jazeera, but they have changed the name and all the Studios and equipments and managed to get some big international names to work there

They operate in many countries and are now the biggest Sport channel in the planet (ESPN and fox are a little part of what i get from my beIN subscription)

Why are discussing something that was born out of a clear foul on Lahm?

And would somebody please upload that uncalled foul on Mueller and Kroos' post so that Borusse sleeps better tonight?

Well, I think he has been doing that for the entire season :) . In fact it looks like he is the only guy who is allowed to shoot from outside the box in our team

Don't you think he's shooting less often this season than in previous years?

I don't have statistics to back it up, but it sure does look like that to me.

I wouldn't say so... I watched 90% of Bayern games this season, his problem in this season is accuracy, not avoidance to take a shot on goal.

Kroos sometimes decides to shoot on goal when he gets a chance, but those shots aren't accurate. Of course, he is also closer to center of the pitch unlike in the last season under Jupp where he played #10.

He's taking shots, just not that clinical.

From 2007-2013, his goal tally: [source]

From squawka, although only 12/13 and 13/14 is available.

Proud of my team, we really fought hard, second half was boring and dreadful for Arsenal fans but still a 2-0 is not bad. The tie is over, no come back I just hope we have a good away and forget the CL as soon as possible. Arsenal are not that far off of Bayern we are still short few players and I hope to face you again next year with more German players on our side.

Ozil should not have taken the penalty kick against a player who knows him so well, Ozil needs to pick himself up, I dont understate why he put his head down for the rest of the game. He really should have scored but we were still in the game and he let himself down. There is not much more we could have done after the red card maybe we should have just tried to keep it at 1-0.

I really enjoyed that game and want to say thanks to all you guys contributing your opinions and thoughts to this forum...it's really a pleasure to read.

My takes on the game:

1) Moving Lahm to right back and having Thiago as the 6 did not work. I don't think that is Thiago's best position and I believe that is the reason why it took us so long to get into the game (along with Javi starting who hasn't really gotten lots of match practice). There just wasn't a cohesiveness and Thiago's not the protector we need in that position.
2) Kroos needs to be resigned. He is a big time player and is young and we have important players nearing the end of their best stuff (Lahm, Schweine, Ribery, Robben, etc).
3) Pep made great halftime changes and Rafinha is underrated. Sure he's not Alaba, but he works hard for the team and all teams need guys like him.
4) I'm still not sold on the formation change from last year. I know it will be a work in progress and I am wondering when we will hit that extra gear with it. Will it really take us to the next level? I really enjoyed the 4-2-3-1 and the way we were so direct and powerful. What are your thoughts?
5) We won without Ribery and Schweine. I remember a time when we couldn't seem to win without Basti, now we are doing it no problem.
6) Neuer is fantastic and was worth everything we spent on him.

I am excited about this team and the future and potential it has. I also think we will be ready for the 2nd leg.

And other teams' fans, especially PL, attack us like a dog for ruining Bundesliga. I think I've always encountered people wanting a piece of the BVB pie, now Gundogan and Reus are the most wanted.
