Well I'm back. Result as expected 0-3, totally dominating Salzburg. Further hindered by match officials' decisions always in their favour. Still I am happy to have managed to shout 'Scheiß Red Bull' at them just below while taking a corner. One of them was Hwang and after he scored their 2nd he ran celebrating towards our corner, pity he didn't get a yellow for that.

Another plus, I managed to see Zickler on the touchline. Hardly recognized him but then I realised it was him after I saw a post from a friend who had a photo with him in the morning at Valletta.

Hibs refused to play... pity cause imo you have the players to hurt any team...
As for the officials. Diaz was lucky not to be sent off in the first 10 mins ... He kicked the guy in the chest (You couldn't see him from were you seated)
And the penalty was a clear hands. Their 3rd goal was pure luck... however having said that Hogg was disappointing I expected more from him.

I am not taking anything away from Salzburg's performance their pressing and ball control were amazing - yet they still made mistakes with many long balls but Hibs were simply in holiday mode - Failla wasted every ball that he touched. That last shot into their net summed it all up - the keeper saved it by just staying still, not even raising a thumb - it just slammed into his chest and he didn't even blink

You're right I couldn't see that clash properly from where I was. I was slightly to the left from the corner flag.
My complaint was more about the linesman. I could see that our player touched it with his hand but the penalty incident started from a missed offside call - the linesman on our side was there just for the payslip he couldn't keep the pace with the players.
There were a couple of such mistakes all through the match. During another incident I had the time to see their player clearly receiving the ball more than a meter offside and when I turn my head to see the linesman's decision he was still running towards the action, he wasn't even in line with the last man.

Anyway, it was still nice to see a full house at a local team's (especially Hibs) match :D

By the way I don't know if you noticed but yesterday Salzburg played with their latest crest change to wriggle their way around UEFA joke book of rules;

Yesterday's RB Salzburg Crest - now one red bull ran away from the crest

TBH I noticed something different but did not cross my mind what the intentions were!

I have a gut feeling that if Bayern can somehow someway reach the CL final next year then they'll win it. Don't care who our opponents will be in the final but I just think that once we are in the final we'll do it. The important thing though is to reach there first!

That's why I hope we get a difficult group but easier K.O. opponents.

Postby MUTU » Sun Jul 16, 2017 9:05 am

Pot 1 will definitely be:
Real Madrid
Bayern Munich
Chelsea
Juventus
Benfica
Monaco
Spartak Moscow
Shakhtar Donetsk

Pot 2 will be made up of:
Barcelona
Atlético Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain
Borussia Dortmund (can't be drawn in the same group as Bayern)
Manchester City
Porto
Manchester United

If Sevilla qualify from the play-off round, they will be in pot 2.
If Sevilla fail to qualify from the play-off round and Napoli qualify from this round, then Napoli will be in pot 2.
If neither Sevilla nor Napoli qualify from the play-off round, then Tottenham Hotspur will be in pot 2.

The other two German clubs, RB Leipzig and 1899 Hoffenheim would need a miracle to make it to pot 3; they will almost definitely be in the unfavourable pot 4.

Voted Barcelona. I want a difficult group for Bayern to test the team to its limits. However I want the KO draws to be kind to us after that, at least until the Semifinals.

Sevilla and Napoli (at least one of them) are surely gonna make it to Pot 2. They are teams with proven pedigree in that regard.

My draw would be:
FC Bayern München
FC Barcelona
Tottenham Hotspur F.C.
Feyenoord Rotterdam

Not only does Bayern get to test itself against a formidable La Liga opponent but this way we also get the chance to put a Dutch and English team in their place!

EDIT: Won't mind PSG either. Just want a really strong team from pot 2.

A sad year for us in the Champions League. Two very important aspects are gone. Philipp Lahm, our captain will not be leading us to victories. And even more sad: our bitch, Arsenal will not be here to take a big red boot deep in their Arsenal arses. Makes me feel empty inside. But looking on the bright side, there are plenty of fish in the sea and we just might find ourselves a new, even better bitch. :)

^Since I like Arsenal in the PL always felt sad that two of my favorites were always drawn together. I'd rather see Bayern pulverize United in the Ro16!

Doesn't matter, unless it's Porto, I see us finishing 2nd in the group again this season.

The transfer window has been utterly disappointing. This is the beginning of the end of the impressive run we've had in the CL the last few years. Shame we couldn't add atleast 1 more trophy to the single victory in 2013.
