In the past even before we started to build the team that lead us to the treble I wouldn't shit my pants before Real or Barca let alone Atletico and the rest.

We need more GERMANS in the team.................

I said that long time ago, maybe because I am older than most people here and I have been following Bayern since the 1970's. The idea of turning Bayern into a "global brand" had consequences, some good, some bad, some terrible. Obviously, less German players in the team is part of it, that goes along with less Bavarian players or homegrown players. Once you go down that path you start to bring bigger names and more individual quality but you lose the charm of unity, teamwork and passion to a degree.

Some head figures that have been as long as myself in the Bayern camp came out and spoke publicly about Bayern losing identity in the Guardiola era coinciding with the time when Hoeness was away; many in this forum dismissed the idea as rubbish. Every one is entitled to an opnion, specially when it comes down to perception but I find interesting that we go in circles and it comes back all the time.

I said it myself, if the future is becoming the next Chelsea, Manchester City, PSG or Real Madrid, teams whose roster composition is not rooted in the place where the team is located I might as well pack my bags and go elsewhere, this after more than 40 years following Bayern Munich.

Or we'll be awarded Craig Thomson... or Øvrebø to come out of the (luxurious)cave he's hiding.

Finishing 2nd means that we'll have the 1st leg at home?

and also ... Germany as a whole is losing that image... Look at the NT. most of the players are light weight all finesse ...just look at the likes of Draxler, Goetze, Oezil etc etc...

That's a really good thing.
For good football : Neuer - Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Alaba - Vidal (Tolisso), Thiago (Tolisso) - Robben, Müller (James), James (Ribéry) - Lewandowski

For boring football : 4-3-3

Many people think than play away the first game and at home the second game is a better think. But I don't agree. Even stats since 2009 says it's better, when the quarter final start, to play at home the first game.

Why the quarter final and not the last 16 ? Because the difference of level between the two teams is often too big and it's not revealing.

But I can give you many exemple :

2009/10 :
We knocked out Manchester United, where was the second game ? Away
We knocked out Olympique Lyon, where was the second game ? Away

2010/11 :
We are knocked out by Inter, where was the second game ? Home.

2011/12 :

We knocked out Real Madrid, where was the second game ? Away

2012/13 :

We are almost knocked out by Arsenal, where was the second game ? Home
We knocked out Juventus, where was the second game ? Away
We knocked out Barcelona, where was the second game ? Away

2013/14 :
We are almost knocked out by Manchester United, where was the second game ? Home
We are knocked out by Real Madrid, where was the second game ? Home

2014/15 :

We are knocked out by Barcelona, where was the second game ? Home

2015/16 :

We are almost knocked out by Juve, where was the second game ? Home
We are knocked out by Atletico, where was the second game ? Home

Every time or almost every time we played away the first game, we have problem against really good team.

But if they win we increase our odds of drawing Barça. Food for thought ;)
