I still prefer the current format...

Makes a difference if it's the weekend though due to lack of work

I'm all for it, I use vacation days to ensure I can watch the quarters and semis live.

Do you have one timezone for weekends and another one for weekdays? :-k

Do you have people working the same hours on weekdays than weekends in Malta?

I'm not sure which times they'll pick; but games at 1:30 pm on Saturdays/Sundays sound a HECK of a lot better than on Tuesdays. And if I lived at the other side of Greenwich, I wouldn't mind games at 9 pm on a Saturday instad of weekdays where I have to wake up early the next morning. Hell, even Sundays at 8 pm doesn't sound that bad to me...

I asked because at first I thought you posted because you have to wake up early to watch them. :) Afternoons are much better even on work days, but definitely a weekend serves you better.

Weekend Bundesliga games are played at either 8:30 am or 9:30 am for South American Pacific bordered countries and the East Coast in the US. It is not inconvenient but a bit boring. CL games I guess would be at a later 1:30 or 2:30 pm which is a hell of a lot better to gather around with friends.

To me it doesn't make much sense to have the better league (CL) played on weekends when their most important game (this Saturday) is played on a Saturday and none is complaining (about the final's timing.) Having the Europa League final played on a Thursday when everyone was busy shuffling papers or sleeping doesn't make much sense to be honest. It is not only about a wider viewership; it's about common sense.

Doesn't make much sense to me that second paragraph of yours...

Either way, I wasn't sleeping... They may well play on weekends occasionally, if they don't interfere with domestic matches... I mean seriously, CL doesn't have that many matches - nonsense...

I think they should start slow and see how it goes. The Saturday final is already the first step towards that. They should introduce the semifinals next rather than jump in and change everything

I've been in Madrid for the past several weeks (will continue to be here for the summer) and I'm conflicted. On one hand I can't stand Real Madrid, but at the same time no matter the team it's gotta be a sight to see a city celebrate a Champions League win. In my honest opinion Juve have a strong chance, I think they're the overall more balanced team, less firepower but an incredible defensive unit. No matter what it's going to be a good game, I'm sure

Maybe we will move this point to a new thread if it goes on but my general point is why is it that the more important game for the CL which is the final can be played on a Saturday and none is complaining while the semis and group stages have to be played on weekdays where you can be busy and the time schedules allow for only a few hours of prime-time for the main markets world wide?

Having the Europa League final played on a Thursday was ridiculous in my opinion. You lose the entire American continent for example and the same happens for the entire CL season. If you look over at Europe, having the games on Saturday or Sunday where you have AT LEAST more free time that during the week means you can watch more than your alma matter and possibly a handful of games. I know ramsej is protesting, but just give him 12 x hours of back to back CL time on the weekend and see how he stops complaining bout the new time frame. :P

The game hasn't even started and the Maltese commentator has already said "No doubt at all that these are the two teams which most deserved to reach the final."

Time to watch in Italian

Wtf? Remember when finals used to be about the football and only the football? The Germans booed their "half time show" last week and I don't blame them.

Come on Mario!

3 goals!

The time is now indeed Juve.

Get this done and send the purple people eaters packing.
