True, but yesterday he kept them in the game by saving a couple of 100% chances. Of course Juve was not very sharp in front of the goal as well..they had the chance to sink them on few occasions.

Same suffering, same fighting spirit... Then it's impossible to avoid connecting it with that nightmare of a match. Somewhat I miss that Bayern, even if the outcome of the season was terrible.

While this Juve win seems like the breakthrough we had against Real in 2012 in a very gritty encounter I'd also say that there were some differences. The most important seemed to be that besides the first 15 minutes at the Bernabeu, by and large Bayern were the better team. Wesemed more compact, moved the ball around better, Gomez had a great chance for the 2-2 in the end. Juve did not entirely hide, but there were vast stretches in both games when they were on their back foot and preferred to defend rather than actually create something.

When we beat Real, despite the final results against Dortmund (the rest of Europe would understand only a year later what type of machine Klopp had built) and Chelsea I remember thinking quite well that the team was on par with the elite. Juve's team still needs a bit more class sprinkled around to consider itself that. Even worse they will actually lose some key players within the next 1-2 years (Tevez, Pirlo, Evra, Buffon, Pogba?, Morata?) and really need to pull off some great moves to refresh the team. So whereas our win seemed like the start of something great, which it was, Juve's seems more like Inter in 2010 in which great but aging players are giving it their all for one last attempt at the big trophy.

Next year CL draws will be very interesting after changes of rules. It looks that:
Pot 1
Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Juventus, PSG, Benfica, Zenith, PSV Eindhoven
Pot 2
Real, Athletico, Man U (if qualifies to group stage), Porto, Arsenal, Valencia (if qualifies to group stage), Bayer (if qualifies to group stage), Man C
Pot 3
Shahtar, Basel, Sevilla, Lyon, Ajax, Dinamo Kiev, Olympiacos, Rubin Kazan
Of course season has not ended yet so there may be some changes but not too many.

With this new format, It only increase the probabilities of having a most difficult road to the final for the big clubs and increase the probability to have an easy road for rest of the participants.

For example: the current format help teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Bayern to just meet each other since begins the the quarterfinal (assuming that all of them normally will win their groups), but this new format brings the probability to Bayern face Real Madrid in the group stage, and immediately Barcelona in the round of 16 if we finish second in second place and we have a bad luck the round of 16 draw.

Big news to me. What's the ratio behind the new CL draws?

Someone knows if the Europa League champion qualify directly to the group stage or to the playoffs?

Yes.
Here are my revised pots:

Pot 1
Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Juventus, PSG, Benfica, Zenith, PSV Eindhoven
Pot 2
Real, Athletico, Man U *, Porto, Arsenal, Valencia *, Bayer *, Man C
Pot 3
Shahtar *, Basel, Sevilla **, Lyon, Dynamo Kiev, Ajax *, Olympiacos, Sporting *
Pot 4
CSKA *, Galatasaray, Lazio, Roma, Victoria Plzen, Club Brugge, Gladbach, Wolfsburg

Qualifying *
Winning EL **

It's hard to take into account all those rules.

Mmm, a Bayern-Man City- Basel-CSKA group sounds like a new and fresh challenge!

Ramsej! Don't say that because suddenly Barca loses 2 games and Real wins and we have Real in pot 1.
Another mistake I noticed ( and I can't believe it that Ukraine is higher ranking league than Netherlands now) and PSV should switch places with Dynamo Kiev.

I seem to remember us discussing it before. Tbh I agree with the new format, although it's harder from a top club's point of view.

I answered to your question "Yes" but really it's not correct in special situation which is when Cl is won by non-champion club from the group of 7 top leagues. I don't really remember if it ever happened. Then EL champ would have to start in play-off round.
