what was wrong with Gustavo for you guys? at some times he even played as CB to assist in defense... IMO i'd give him an 8/10

Man of the match is Ribery ....

I thought he was kind of lost, but I am also sure that it was a one-of. This was his only bad game in a Bayern shirt, and even playing his worst game so far, he's our hero today!

I think we are almost certainly going to move away from the 4-2-3-1. What we played in the second half was definitely not a 4-2-3-1 (no idea what it was tbh) and we were playing much better. I think the 4-3-3 with Gustavo, Schweini, Kroos is starting to look like our future midfield. With Gomez's performance today, even more likely, with Muller or Olic taking his place.

We will see how we lineup against Zurich. As easy as that game should be, we'd better not take it for granted. I don't want too many risks there. Maybe start Olic or play Muller as ST, or possibly start Usami/Alaba if Robben is still injured, but nothing else.

Zurich is definitely not easier than Gladbach or Worlfsburg ... but in Europe we are still aided by the fact the small teams fear us ... in Bundesliga we have lost this priviledge...

Ok, a few points from the game.

1) we need to drop 4-2-3-1, this simply doesn't work for Bayern. When Schweini plays too deep he doesn't create shit, and at least for bundesliga and considering we are Bayern and not Koeln, this formation is overkilled defensively. Dortmund might use this formation to good effect but they have the right type of players to do so (Goetze, Kagawa). When Schweini got unleashed from his defensive responsabilities we became a totally different team (note: 4-3-3, 4-1-4-1, or a variation of that).

2) Contrary to what you guys say, Kroos didn't play bad. He was suffering from having no help in creating plays from the two guys behind him in the first half. He is not Messi and can't dribble past 3 defenders and score.

3) Boateng is just what we needed, a great CB that is only going to get better. I'm a little concerned about our fullbacks though, they need to defend better and they weren't particularly great in attack either.

4) Our accuracy on the long balls was simply horrible. This needs work in the training ground even if not our main resource in attack. Nothing like catching a team on the break with their pants down.

5) Great game Ribery, especially coming back from injury.

6) Usami wont get many more chances like this. He looked so lost and so not used to the pace of the game that I got a whiff of Landon Donovan from him, if you know what I mean.

7) Gomez, shite tonight, although he deserves credit for the play leading to the goal. I hope he is not a plyer that keeps alternating between a good season and a bad one.

8) Muller as bad as Gomez or worst. Nowhere to be seen. Whatever happened to his diagonal runs to create space?

Bottomline, still lots of work to do but the priority is the tactics. So, Don Jupp, you are the first one in the spotlight IMO.

Yeah... he was caught out of position several times... and he couldn't defend their crosses.... But he probably was very very tired....

I was surprised to see Schweinsteiger performing this well after the mid-week game.... This is really good for us, because he gets the game going forward with such performances....

True

and the more surprising thing is that

When he is free , he gets 10000 Times better offensively , but He Does not get worse in Defending at all !!!

so why not letting him play more freely

Glad to see our defense working nicely...

Badstuber played quite well today, which is surprising!

BUT and this is something I've always loved about him, he can hit an attacking player from a mile away with those penetrating passes...

I agree with everyone that is saying we need to get away from the bullshit LVG formation....

I think that we need to play a traditional 4-4-2 or a 4-3-3

Either
--------------Neuer----------------
Rafinha---Boateng---Badstuber----Lahm---

Robbern--Schweinie--Gustavo---Ribery---

----------Olic---------Muller--------------------

Or this

--------------Neuer----------------
Rafinha---Boateng---Badstuber----Lahm---

--------Robben---Schweinie------Ribery-----

-------Muller-----Gomez--------Olic-----------

Just my opinion... but our first problem of the lack of attack is the Coach like a previous post said.

Whever something is not performing you look at the leadership..........( the coach )

Not at all if you had Schweinie play defensive and offensive. He needs to be our Van Bommel, he needs to command the midfield. If he would play like he played today that formation would destory.
