A very nice end to a not-so-nice game. Kimmish was superb, and so were Thiago and Martinez. A disappointing performance for Muller, Lewa, Renato and Coman. The others were average.

Awful match, awful performance by everyone. Without Ribery we have no attacking impetus, which is a huge issue. I think we should have gone all in for Alexis in the summer.

Renato not yet fitting in, but give him time FGS, he's a kid. Coman too, he is not having as great a season as under Pep, but he is still a kid.

We turned it on in the last few minutes, or Hamburg just couldn't sustain the effort for the entire match. But I think the attack is definitely the area that needs to be adjusted. I'm confident in all of our central midfielders, and we are so rich in that area that it's wonderful to be able to fit three on the field. Thiago, Kimmich, Vidal is incredible, and if you handle Alonso correctly you get a master class from him.

But we aren't getting anything from Thomas when we only have one winger. We got really screwed the last few years thinking Robbery would be more consistently available or that Götze could fill their role. Now we are trying to rebuild but while Costa could do a decent job, Coman is going to really have to step up his decision making and passing. With three central midfielders either Müller needs to learn to play striker by himself, or we abandon three central midfielders and have Thomas together with Lewy. Or no Thomas altogether :(

I don't like what I'm gonna say, but I think the problem is Lahm. In a 433 the 3 attackers should play more or less centrally which requires the FBs to compensate. Alaba is doing so well, but Lahm is not. He stays on the middle of the pitch too much, he needs to go up way more to maintain width. Sadly I'm not sure he has the legs anymore.

Look at the way last season's Dortmund worked. Mhikitaryan and Reus' are particularly great dribblers, but Piszcek and Schmelzer had the energy to maintain width, thus their front three worked like a charm in the center. That's what we need.

This was almost always the case when only Ribsy played and Robben didn't... so I don't see anything new.

Coman wrote:4-3-3 with Müller on the right win. Still the same shit.

Kimmich + Thiago was way enough to control the game. Sanches was too much.

Another winger + Müller as an attacking midfielder would have been so much better, no doubt about it.

well said

I agree but the solution is simple , use another winger and ask Lahm to cover.

MOTM obviously Adler..

but among bayern players Ribery ..he's a warrior..would love to see him celebrating in Griezmann's face..
Thiago and Lahm were superb..
Kimmich..is quite good..

I think Coman had a great season under Pep because he knew his role on the pitch with Ancelotti player have more freedom. I think Pep's way helps the younger or newer players integrate easier to a team.

Absolutely! Agree completely. Guardiola is superb at managing young players. Ancelotti is more of a veteran's manager.

Joshua Kimmich: “We were not good in the first half. We had no ideas going forward and didn’t create much. In the second half we had three or four great chances and luckily got the goal in the end.”
