I find it somewhat surprising, given that he was one of the 3 Bayern players to brainfart against Meyer.

True but he did some crucial interceptions as well.

Indeed he did, but he looked completely lost in that Schalke goal. His lack of tactical experience/adeptness at the central defender position reared up its ugly head once more. I say once more because it's not the first time it seemed he didn't have a clue on what to do and looked lost while in defence. I've yet to see him brainfart that way whilst playing in front of the defence.

We now have Boateng, Benatia and Badstuber ready. I hope to see Martínez taking over from Xabi Alonso.

Boateng and Benatia are very complementary I think. The former has amazing playmaking abilities and the latter has proven defensive and tactical skills.

I disagree because we loan to Bundesliga clubs and playing against us is the closest we'll get to see them play against a CL-quality team while on loan.

IMO he wasn't that bad... he's got the quality, all he needs is someone to trust in him but I doubt that it will be Munich with our current manager.

Lol no, don't even put this on any coach. He was simply bad.

You need trust to do good, that's all I'm saying... I don't know how will he do once he finds it...
It would be better for him if he found a less competitive environment cause I doubt that he'll make it amongst a star studded Bayern.

Pep trusts him, or at least trusted him. He was loved, was getting a similar amount of playing time as Kimmich now and he was still too impatient for that. I still hope he makes it, but if Breitenreiter can't trust him ahead of Geis and Goretzka then he better evolve spectacularly next season.

I think things didn't work quite well between him and Pep according to some speculations... and it's not the same thing being a loanee as being a long term player of a team. I think the only thing that would work for him is a permanent deal there or elsewhere...
If I was the manager I'd play Kimmich and Hojbjerg more often... both exchanging a spot rather than a pensioner Alonso, maybe not in the CL but in the domestic league, yes.
He can turn to be Pep's "Hummels"...

So he's not even good enough to be a Schalke starter and that's Pep's fault :D

Emre Can started to do well since Klopp was appointed there... strange. Oh no, he found another "Hummels". :P
Starting to resemble Klinsy every day more and more... problems with medical staff and so on...

"Instead of blaming the lack of offensive penetration on the pragmatism of Pep Guardiola, we should instead be thankful that the game came at the tail end of the autumn instead of in the spring spring, when things get altogether more serious.

The match was tight and it swung on a small structural change from Guardiola in the second half, that gave Bayern a greater sense of control as it moved towards the decisive late stages." [source]
