Stop that... If we lose this, we're not gonna win anything this year...

Can you please stop trolling? Maybe you should bet your computer that BVB will win if you are so sure.

How is that trolling? I gave various reasons for said opinion... And I guess those threads are about feelings wrt the game as well?
Maybe someone else feels differently, but I don't see this as an exaggerated, unrealistic estimate -do you?

(Also, I'm superstitious and me potentially putting myself in the line of fire might help us win :P   )

There are at least 5 reasons for us winning.

-We're the better team
-We're the better team
-We're the better team
-We're the better team
-We're the better team

I genuinely don't understand why we're suddenly the underdogs. Granted, of course we can lose, but the number of Dortmund fans who feel confident about beating us is factually no more than 0. I'll bet my computer on that.

On the fact that they don't feel confident? Then you lost already... ;)
I actually know quite a bunch...

And the "underdog" thing:
I would still have been worried about an away game in Dortmund, but the odds are especially bad for us this time... And we haven't won a direct encounter with the closes competitor in years - granted, this would be a perfect time to start... :P

Dumbledore7 wrote:We're the better team

I'm not even arguing about that... We SHOULD be... But we're also the better team than Mainz...

Was it you or Punk saying in Hinrunde that we were lucky to play certain teams at certain times and that we hadn't faced a team at their peak yet? Well, I don't even think they're at their peak... Just that we're currently in probably the weakest phase of the current season (so far)...

And heck, I couldn't wish to be more wrong about anything than this...

The odds are against us? Not according to the bookmakers, who actually make money out of this... Common, predicting a disaster before even seeing the line-ups is simply not rationally justifiable.

This is the first instance (in Pep's time) where we actually need to win. That alone should make it all different and you shouldn't base it on what happened before.

#12 wrote:But we're also the better team than Mainz...

Yeah, but how come we never win the Bundesliga with a 100% record? How come Juventus never win the Serie A with a 100% win record? How about Barcelona? How was it possible that Sir Alex Ferguson actually lost some games in England? Even PSG can't do it in a shitty league.

Not me, but I'm the sort of person who says every win is deserved and the losing team is always at fault. Only exception is if it ends in a penalty shootout.

Then stop repeating it. It literally brings no positive. Don't complain when people claim you're trolling - even if you don't intend to, you're doing it by definition.

OT: I Thought trolling was posting something INTENTIONALLY to provoke a reaction... Whatever...

I was just trying to give an estimatre (as I mostly do...) and not to take this to a ridiculous level... So agreed... I'll stop for now... But I WILL post my thoughts after the game... ;)

A draw is enough to put us in a very good position to win the league. A win will make us champions in theory. A loss means the title race is open but we're still in the lead with the hardest games all behind us.

As Borusse will tell you, Dortmund's biggest enemy are themselves. You think Mainz is bad? They drop points inexplicably much more often. I bet we'd win the title even if we lose on Saturday.

Crazy and unexpected because it would mean that we dropped 6 points in 2 games/less than 3 days. But when is the last time that even happened? Obviously it still could but we're not exactly a team that hs frequent losing streaks.

I checked:

We lost vs Augsburg on 9 May 2015 and vs Freiburg on 16 May. However, at that point 1) we were mathematically champions, and 2) we beat Barcelona in midweek between those two games. Admittedly, however, this streak actually lasted 4 games. Before Augsburg, we lost vs Leverkusen and Barcelona.

Prior to that, it was 5 and 12 April 2014 vs Augsburg (again   ) and Dortmund. Yet again, we were already champions and we beat Manchester United midweek between those two games.

The last time we lost two in a row when the title race was still open, it was on 19 and 27 November 2011, vs Dortmund and Mainz. As well all know that season was a disaster, and when these two games came around again, we dropped 5 points in 2 games (loss vs Dortmund and draw vs Mainz). Dropping 5 points in two games (which would be decent enough for us this weekend) is also a rarity. We did in the first two games after the winter break last season, and our two consecutive losses in 2014 were preceded by a draw, but those are the only two times it happened since Pep took over (and one of them was after winning the league).

Of course it is still possible to lose on Saturday, but to take a loss as something for granted does not make much sense to me. It's been almost 5 years since we last lost two games in a row when points still mattered (and they matter this weekend more than ever).

EDIT: moved conversation to the match thread.
