I disagree. I think he had a pretty decent game, nothing spectacular for sure, but not bad by any means

I think this team is going to be great once Thiago is back. Thiago and Robben are going to be very important this season.

It was a bit better after his goal.. But still, he lost way to many balls again and doesnt even put up a fight to get it back :S

Gaudino and Bernat played alright for me. Gaudino needs to be put more upfront like a CAM. He did a magnificent dribble and was ready to do challenges and tackle but clearly his frame is too weak for that. Let Rode, Hojbjerg or Alaba rotate with Alonso.

For Bernat to work, we clearly need a more solid defense. Dante on the left is so shaky. He was better when Badstuber was there. The final pass is missing but he doesn't lose the ball unlike Gotze who can't even dribble past players lmao

Alaba is too far up the field almost like a CAM. He really needs to be the CM and let the other attackers fill that space. We were crowding the box with our players and have no space at all to work with upfront with Stuttgart defending in their box. No wonder we were passing the ball in our own half to draw out their defense and open some space.

Lewa clearly needs some service. He has to drop back to even touch the ball. He was trying to create chances from 50/50 ball and was again hit with bad luck. Hits the post twice lmao

Eurosport mentioned that Pep said our team would need the Christmas break to really settle. The WC has really affected our preparations for the season. The players are also lacking with some chemistry passing and positioning is not as fluid as last season.

I don't mind these bumps. It's better to see them now and fix them a long the way than for these to hit us in the face later in the season.

7 points out of 9.. with almost no pre season for the most players at all.. That's a great start imo. Don't get me wrong, i would like them to play a bit better ofcourse, especially offense wise. But i know it's not something we can expect right now, but certain players need to step up or just being placed on the bench for not even trying to make an effort..

Also, Pep, why not Rode instead of Gaudino????

Saving him for City I guess. I bet we'll start with Rode-Alonso vs Yaya and co.

I guess it was ok given the lack of fitness and still all the injury issues we have. Clear victory, not a perfect game, 3 points, all in all it's ok.
We will only get better during the road, once others return to fitness and play more with the team. BL is ours to lose, CL is really the nut to crack this season and our group isn't easy at all at this stage of the campaign. So, the first game against City at home is a crucial test for the squad and their psychology. Nothing but a win will do. If we win that group, I expect a different beast in the second half of the season, we can go all the way to the final.

He also hit the post from that Alonso rebound. He's not scoring as much as we hoped but he wasn't terrible.

We played a solid game today. Nothing that wows people, but I was never in doubt of the three points. City didn't exactly play a great game either today. They deserved to lose.

Off topic, but Schweini's hair turned a bit gray. Too soon isn't it?

Exactly. And surely I'm not the only one noticed that our STYLE of play is moving back into a better to watch direction. Quicker and more direct.

Lewandowski is far better than Mandzukic.

Not too many complaints today. Badstuber, Dante, and Boatang looked pretty decent in the back before Badstuber had to go off. Guadino had another decent game for a 17 year old. I can only hope that Gotze goal is a step towards him finding his best form. Still waiting to see our big transfer Benatia, it is looking like Alonso is the better defensive signing rather than the supposed much needed CB. Badstuber's return has been great, hope his knock today was nothing serious. My only complain is that Müller did not score
